Garden variety Race specific tech clarifications

By King Yertle, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

Hey, I am having some difficulty finding some clarifications on the race specific techs for the trees, lizards, and turtles. I was wondering if anyone of the forum community would explain them to me, and point me to their sources.

1. The Arborec racial BioPlasmosis reads: At the beginning of the Strategy Phase, you may move 1 ground force from a planet you control to a friendly or uncontrolled planet in an adjacent system.

The Yssaril Racial Shuttle logistics reads: At the start of Status Phase you may choose a system that does not contain any enemy ships. Your ground forces in the chosen system may move to any friendly planet in the same or an adjacent system (that does not contain enemy ships).

Exactly what systems can these abilities affect? What constitutes Friendly or uncontrolled?

2. The Xxcha's first racial tech Diplomats is Once per turn, and their second Instinct Training is Once per game turn.

What is the distinction here and how is that different from round?

Hey! Who let that cat in here? While we are at it What are the limits/ constraints on the Hacan's racial ability to: "During the Status Phase, you may trade Action cards with other players"?

Is it one for one? Is it whole hands? Do both parties have to agree to the exchange? How about a 0-1 Bribe or extortion?

What constitutes Friendly or uncontrolled?

A "friendly" planet is one which you control. A planet that contains at least one GF/PDS/SD/Mech of yours, or that has one of your control markers on it.

An "uncontrolled" planet is one which is not controlled by anyone.

Note that it is possible for another player to have ships in a system but not control all of the planets there. It is possible that a different player controls one or more planets therein.

In order to control a whole system, you must have at least one non-FT ship in space AND you must control all planets present (if any.)

2. The Xxcha's first racial tech Diplomats is Once per turn, and their second Instinct Training is Once per game turn.

IIRC, "Turn" and "Round" (and "Game Turn") are largely interchangeable. Except for a few cases where "turn" is used to mean one Action taken in the Action Phase, just to keep you on your toes. FFG's rules are not always the most consistently worded. =P

It's whatever the players involved can agree to. Hacan can even facilitate trading ACs between two other players by swapping nothing for something and then something for nothing.

Note that you still can't trade Political Cards or anything else that normally cannot be traded, so Hacan can trade cards for cash (because cash can normally be traded by everyone) and he can trade them for other ACs (because his power says so,) but he can't trade them for much else. Favours are valid if accepted, but favours offered are not binding, so be careful.

To further clarify: the Arborec racial let's you in effect do a free "peaceful annexation" each game round by moving 1 single Gf there, establishing a weak foothold and gaining that planet for future use. The Yssaril can move many forces but only to planets they already own. So the techs are similar but different.

To further clarify: the Arborec racial let's you.... establishing a weak foothold and gaining that planet for future use.

Of course, an arborec "weak foothold" is not likely to stay weak for long.

Especially if they also research their other racial tech...

The fact that you guys both have the same avatar and names that start if F totally makes it seem like you're one person talking to himself. =P

Hee hee.

We are the Hacan. Lower your price and surrender your coins. We will add your biological and technological trade goods to our own. Your tariffs will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

I opened the thread and totally went "wait, I didn't say that?!"
