Purpose of "Rules Question" sections?

By egalor, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

In BI forums, if you remember, a special section was dedicated to providing official answers to players' questions, which we used as the official "errata" in our games.

As for FFG rules question section, provided that no official answer is ever given to my question -- why should I bother asking it? Only to discuss the possible answers with the players just like me?

Then don't bother posting here, and leave the people who are concerned they missed something to continue to post here to make sure they're handling things correctly.

I just don't get it past " then don't bother posting here " :)

Forgive me for saying so but you're mistake, IMO, is in assuming that an answer from someone from FFG is "better" than anyone else's. I fail to see why that would be true. FFG staff very likely does not have as much opportunity to play the game as much as someone playing in a weekly game. They don't have as much experience with the various little rules issues that may crop up in a session. Above all, they do not possess some mystical knowledge received from On High. They're just geeks like us... they just happen to be lucky geeks who get paid (under-paid in my experience) to write games.

It's worth noting that the current FFG FAQ differs from the old BI one because of player input.

Sad, but somehow BI did manage to come up with kinda official answers, anyway...

Honestly, if you don't like other player's answers you can just wait for newer Errata (which generally is driven by the players on these and other forums), but the only way for players to discuss problems is to first post them. Whether FFG decided to intervene or not is up to them, but generally the community either agrees on a single solution to an issue, or they find multiple that suit different gameplay styles.

YMMV, but my group has found this forum and Dark Reign to be priceless when looking for answers to problems we run into.
