Extra Y-Wing Dial with Most Wanted?

By markcsoul, in X-Wing

Not sure if that has been mentioned before, but I was looking over what's all included with the Most Wanted kit again, and noticed it has 6 dials. There's 1 for the y-wing, 2 for the z-95, 1 for the hwk, and 1 for the firespray. But that leaves one extra. Looking at the picture, it appears the extra is another y-wing.

So unless this is an error in the picture, that means you could use a rebel y-wing with this pack as you've have the extra dial and base pieces to do it. It seems odd that they are doing this, but not including an extra z-95 dial as well though. You could argue the extra Z-95 dial would be more helpful than the extra y-wing, as more people would probably field 3 Z-95's over 2 y-wings in a scum squad.

2 y-wings with the new title are pumping as much firepower as up to 5 Z's though.

First, to answer your question, yes there is a second Y-wing dial in most wanted.

Second:

Syndicate Thug (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
R4 Agromech (2)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Or, y'know, just take

5 x [REDACTED] - [REDACTED]

This is totes going to be a thing.

I'm not saying people won't field multiple y-wings with scum, just that multiple z-95's are more likely I'd think because of their cost.

I think I may have to find someone willing to sell/trade the firespray dial that comes with it so I can get two without having to buy two most wanted packs. Can't tell which pilots are on which base for the firesprays, other than boba and merc aren't on the same one. If Boba and Kath are on separate then I won't need to find another base at least.

Stay on Target has some real nice synergy with the A4 on a high PS Y-Wing. I might try the following in my Rebel fleet:

Horton Salm: 33 Points

Ion Cannon Turret

R2-D6

Stay On Target

Expensive but could potentially bash some heads in.

FFS you were meant to keep our gencon winning list secret man...

Can't help but feel that Stay On Target might be a bit pointless after the Ion Cannon Turret's first hit, though...

Oh hell - sorry Hobo, give me a moment...

Trading would probably be the way to go, or splitting with friends of course.

Personally I would prefer Y-wings over Z-95s. The other thing is 2 Z-95s are included with the kit already, and including 2 Y-wing dials is a more numerically pleasing number than 3 Z-95s are (because you know people would complain about having a 9th Z-95 dial if they bought 3 sets to run an 8 ship swarm)

Also it makes more sense for the other Y-wing upgrades because if you only get 1 Y-wing dial (the one to accompany the miniature) why include the extra bomb bay, BTL-A4, and Salvaged Astromechs? If people have to buy multiple packs to field multiple Scum Y-wings you might as well only include one set in there

Unless you are running a Z swarm 4 Z-95s will probably have you covered. 2 copies of Most Wanted will let you fly 4 Ys, 4 Zs, 2 Firesprays and 2 HWKs which are all most lists will ever need. If they had provided a 3rd Z-95 dial instead of a second Y-Wing dial people that wanted to fly 4 Ys together would end up with 12 Z-95s, which would only be useful if you were planning on playing an Epic game.

Best solution would have simply been to have no "extra" dials and let models use the dials that they come with. That would have saved the Most Wanted set plenty of cardboard space and they could have given us more base tokens to get even more use from the ships we may have already had.

There is already space set aside for the extra Firespray and Y-Wing dials in the plastic bag on my shelf that holds the dozens of duplicate target lock tokens that I have. I don't plan on stuffing them into my overly crowded storage box unless I am participating in the World tournament (or jist feeling pretentious).

That said, the price of the kit is more than fair even if we are paying for a few pieces of redundant cardboard and I am glad that it encourages flying an underused ship.
