X-Wing miniatures

By Filthy Pierre, in X-Wing

I've noticed in all the X-Wing miniatures that have been repainted that not one has a wonky engine or bent gun.

I have about 8 X-Wings some still in packets but all have bent engines or guns to some degree. One really bad one FFG replaced for me.

My question is to you miniature masters is are you pulling these things off and repositioning them so they are straight?

If so can there be a video or pictures of how to do it?

Thanks

I think you must have the worst luck. I've got only 3 X-wings, but their cannons are all straight. If you do need to do some major straightening work or even replacing, I'd suggest finding some really thin plastic rod and a similar sized drill and pin vice.

Drill out the wingtips so you can insert a new cannon right inside the wing. It only need to go in 3-4mm or so. This way it will give the rod/cannon more surface area to glue with than just trying to glue it flush onto the end of the wing.

Good luck either way.

That is extremely bad luck! You can see I have an extensive list of ships in my sig line and the only issue I've had was an engine falling off the CR-90! No bent guns or wings, etc.

I've got twice the ships Plainsman has and I've had no such issues.. that's unfortunate you have so many of them damaged. You could remove them gently and reposition them if you wanted, but I have never done it so not sure how to assist you with this.. sorry :(

No dis-assembly required.

Bent styrene plastic is a fairly simple fix; a bowl of the hottest water your flesh can stand, hold the figure submerged at the position of the bend for a few seconds, remove from water and straighten with fingers. Done.

I have had a couple bent ships, easy fix, no sweat. That included a bent engine from a reprint X-Wing.

Man, you are going to have to show that one with some photos.

As I said, mine are all good, but it's just basic plastic surgery. There's plenty of room to do it, you just need the right tools. :)

No, that is not what mean. ;)

I was going to do a pinning tutorial at some point with; 8×10 color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was...

You can get anything you want, at LordColes Restaurant.. just walk right in it's around the back, just a half a mole cross the shuttle port...

I wanna eat dead burnt bodies, veins bulging in my teeth...
