Here are mine. Minimal paint, really just a weathering job on the minis out the box with some more personal touches to get rid of the clean look they get.

If you're looking for another easy minimalist improvement on your x-wings, I recommend painting the astromechs. It's easier than you would imagine; just give them a dome color and they look tons better than the standard X-wing. If you're feeling adventurous you could try painting the panels on them - just a quick horizontal dab or two works wonders, and doesn't have to be perfect to look quite good.

Word! After looking at the photos after you mention that, it appears that the mech sticks out and really brings the whole things down in my eyes. I even see that I was blind to that little touch that is visible on many repaints in this thread.

Also the engine glow adds a lot to the miniature, makes the model seem more alive. Some impressive work on this thread, i'm getting inspired to re-do my X-wings.

Took forever, but here's my first attempt at a repaint.

Here's the very first repaint I've even attempted. This poor guy lost a blaster in the line of duty, making him a prime subject for a painting guinea pig. Personally I love it and have fallen in love with painting. I hope to be doing a lot more painting in the future, and will be sharing them as I go. Any critiques welcome.

I thought the same thing when I saw yours! It definitely plays to a "can't afford to replace it" background of a not so rich rebel movement haha. I think it gives them some character.

Im half tempted to cut off what remains of the gun and paint a little "Laser goes here" on the wing. Then theres about a 1/3 of me that wants to just chop half the wing off and paint it as 'super battle damaged'

Or maybe leave the wing and "destroy" the front end of what's left of the cannon -- overload style. Chew up the wing at the front tip, lots of carbon scoring trailing back from that point.

I think you just gave me the exact thing im going to do. Now I just need to learn how to do some dope carbon scoring.

just thought I would share my Red 5 Repaint with you guys its not 100% finished but just wanted to share

Snow day cancelled work, so I had some time to paint some X-wings today.

Hard to tell, but that's actually orange, not red.

I didn't like the green in front of the cockpit, so I went back over it with the silver.

This one was very tricky around the cockpit, because I did the whole ship black first, then the gold around the cockpit, then had to go back and do the windows black again. The side windows are still pretty messy.
