I don't think they can in LCG. Maybe if they get off a really good Lethal Counter Attack.
Time of Trials - Visual Spoilers. In Spanish.
Yeah, they have to be a little more judicious about things, but they can still muster quite a bit of kill power. 2 Claim, Winter is Coming, Robb Stark, Icy Catapault, Lethal Counterattack, etc..
Well... it seems that Stark should then be able to win an intrigue challenge. Granted less kill power is a little better, I've always thought the reason Stark didn't do as well at worlds is just lack of the champs choosing thier houses (Same with Bara... if folks chose to risk the rush I think they would have done well unless they faced Dobbler). Nothing is more devestating then realizing you'll do better to keep the cards in hand and let them take the intrigue the first turn, otherwise facing the onslaught, losing 2 characters and THEN two cards.
I'm with you. I think the straight-forwardness of Stark murder turns a lot of the top players away. The indepth planning and general trickiness that other Houses offer, particularly their more interesting versions of control attract a lot of our best players. I think if they turned their minds to a Stark deck in Standard there would be few decks that could stand the crucible.
In LCG Stark can absolutely muster enough kill (direct and by military claim) especially if coupled with a well timed Wildfire, or planned Valar, to clear the board in joust and hit intrigue challenges... though I'm not really sure why it would matter that much in regards to this particular event. If you've wiped their board and are hitting their hand I don't there many locatrions that are going to swing the game back in their favor.
there already exists a stark deck in standard that crushes every other deck with ease -- it showed up at black friday last year, and its updated version isn't any worse ;-)
Not suggesting I like doing this... but you discard thier income locations so they can't recover.
Then next turn play Blockade.
Also other locations that are good targets are ones like Lannisport Brothel and Queen Dany's Chambers.
I'm with you gusy as well, though maybe not as convinced as dormouse. I have been saying for a long tiem that stark si a solid second behind Lannister. Its weird how people just seem to get bored with high claim and kill. The gold handicap on teh Claim 2 Plots migth scare people off in the LCG environment, but other than that.....
Stark is really, really good at the moment. At least on the local level.

I think that´s a good analysis. Personally i don´t like to play Stark that often, because they are in my opinion pretty dull at the moment. Sure killing effects and high claims are good, but i just like versatile game play more than a oneway theme. My most beloved Stark decks have always been theme decks just like knights of the realm, Tully, nightwatch, Bolton or Arryn - just playing Stark is good & effective but boring at least in the long run in my opinion.
