Looking at the picture, I am wondering if I should take off the battle damage on the pilot's right hand side...

Leave it as is. It's a very good paint job.
A-wing repaints
My completed Tycho and Arvel together with the cards that I used for reference.
I just had to clean up Tycho a little:

I'd post some of my custom painted A-Wings but I just wanted to copy Rebel Aces so they wouldn't be particularly impressive except perhaps in how much they look normal.
I've been tempted lately though....maybe I might go for something unique soon...
The front row are the custom ones. Back row are official ones. HWKs were painted to match.
And then here's a few other non-A-Wings she did. One of those Royal guard Interceptors is custom and one is official. One K-Wing is upsideown to show off the ordinance.
And finally the camo YT-2400 with the Sword Emblem.
I love the A Wings! The colours/scheme look great on the HKK 290s too.
Other models look fantastic too.
I would say that in future you should post the ships other than A Wings that you paint in the "concise painting thread".
That way we can keep this thread full of the A Wing love
That Z-95 has my colors! and my symbol, don't worry, I don't have a copyright for a Blue-Chevron on black, it's just my thing.
Just a crappy picture taken with my phone ^^
Changed the white to the same grey used on the rest of my rebel ships und cleaned up the blue.
Very subtle but effective change.
If you thin your paints a little more the finish will look smoother.

And the paint is pretty thin. After 10 years of painting I would be disapointed of myself if I'd lob inches of paint onto my models ^^
When I'm home, I'll make some less blurry pics

Pretty happy with this trio. Will probably never use Arvel as Arvel, but I like the look of the ship, and I think it will work just fine for an green squadron A-Wing
Every time we've seen more a wings in Rebels ive ended up pausing trying to take a look at the different markings to see if there were numbers or such, especially the recent mandolorian episode with multiple new paint jobs, but while there are some nice patterns I cant make particular sense of any of them. I would advocate making up your own. Rebels arn't uniform. Embrace that.

Dude, Mighty Morphin added the green ranger later, he was the original sixth ranger. He should have just painted a sixth A-wing black.

My guess is he only had 5. The Green Ranger was enough of a bad mofo, that he could just be another ship type even.

I'm so old it didn't occur to me that it was a Power Rangers reference. I was thinking something ten times cooler, and from my era: Voltron. But it did have Green, but no Pink.

I didn't get it either. I was born in the early 80s, time travelled to the 50s, and then suddenly it was the late 90s
I had an extremely sheltered upbringing. Watching Star Wars for the first time as an early teen totally blew my mind

Did you grey up the ships in the background? Or just the Rebel Aces one? I've been looking at the extremely white paint they come with, comparing it to the ship art for the Rebel ships and wondering what to do about it. What you've done looks perfect.
I have repainted all of the A-Wings.
I use a mix of Vallejo Game Color Stone Grey and White, and then a watered down Games Workshop Nuln Oil wash to achieve the grey you see in the pictures

That's the name of the wash. It is very versatile.
Watered down it can be very subtle, and straight it can be used to create deep shading and even to paint on battle damage/blaster burns
