To Chase or Not to Chase Super Move Dash

By zhentil, in X-Wing

I have played a few games with Super Move Dash build and it seems that my opponents have only 2 options really. To chase him or not to chase him. So i went about playing against the build. I played 4 games against it and went 2-2. The two builds that lost were Phat Chewie build, Chewie with 2 Z-95s and Biggs, the other was 4 B-WIng build. Now the B-Wing build got owned because oh his Jan Ors Ion Cannon anyone who got close so it ended up not being flown right on my part. I did Kill his Jan Ors Hawk but that one evade a turn on 5 dice attack just ends games quickly. Phat Chewie was more of an attacking Chewie with Biggs. I chose to chase him instead of waiting for him to make his first turn or come to me. I didn't fly well against it.

The two that I have won with were Decimator Build with Oicunn and the Doom Shuttle. Oicunn ended up boxing him in and just ramming him for 5 damage. The other build was my Nintendo Build, a X-Wing rookie, a B-Wing and Ferrell with Push the Limit and Predator and Dutch with Ion. I flew that group in a tight group until he made his first turn then Ferrell stuck to him like glue. It also helped that i let him have initiative so he moved first. Dutch was able to Ion him which let me get the B-Wing and Ferrell at range one for 2 turns.

Now my question is, when facing Super Move Dash builds, do you chase him down or do you wait and slowly come in waiting for his first turn?

All depends how he sets up.

If he sets up directly across from you, your going to be chasing.

What I've done and it worked the one out of three games I've beaten him, is I stopped chasing him and went for his 3 z95, and I sent one academy at dash so he was shooting at it instead if my bombers.

Once the escort numbers were weaker and they were all stress thanks to Mara jade I moved everything and managed to get out in front of him.

Rebel captive is great, because dash does not want multiple stress if he is using ptl.

Once the bombers were in front I just kept them where he wanted to go and ram with oicunn.

I think oicunn with Mara and rebel captive is an excellent counter

The other two games I lost was, well the first was asteroid placement. I made a bad decision and had too many asteroids in a wall like formation which he was able to get behind Makin chewy and Leebo hard to get through.

He had no shields left and Leebo with the hlc (no turret) was a little slow getting to the fight.

Second game I sent Leebo in ahead of chewy and that didn't go well.

I think both those games I could have won, lookin back see where the mistakes lie

One thing for sure.

He makes ya work for it
