Ship base card required?

By haldir140, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I have seen that an upcoming tournament near me has the Soontir Fel alt art pilot card up for grabs for the top 16, however given that I do not have the single Interceptor expansion (I have the Imp Aces box) would I still be able to pilot him without the cardboard base insert?

Can I proxy in a different base but say its Soontir? Would a tournament allow this?

At the moment I don't really want to buy another Interceptor just for him (although he is good)

Cheers

The tournament rules by FFG do not allow for Proxies where as friendly games at FLGS might. You can check with the store or tournament organizer and see if they are allowing proxies

No.

At least you couldn't use him any more legally than if you just wrote out your own card to play with.

Strickly speaking no.

But I think if you won the card at a store event and you had a valid interceptor base they would probably allow it. But as others have stated it would be up to the TO or group you play with with.

As far as getting the expansion there are a couple of upgrades you might not have plus its a different paint scheme than aces.

Page 1 of the Standard Tournament rules addresses this.

Ahh ok, thanks for clearing it up!

TIE Interceptors are up for sale on the Barnes and Noble website with free shipping.

Most peeps who have Squints from before Aces come out will have 2+ Soontir bases and can only use one. Maybe you can buy the card and base of someone who has a spare second for a couple of dollars.
