Alternative M3-A Interceptor Help?

By Smashotron, in X-Wing

Hey folks, I am excited for the new MandalMotors ships coming out (and would even be pleased to see them make a Dunelizard). I was wondering if anyone has any ideas how best to convert the current M3-A Interceptors into the Style 2 Scyk. The available style is the first image, and the second is the Style 2.

For the ship it is nothing but an aesthetic difference, but I'd like some variety. My concern is that whatever I do might snap right off. What do you all think?

I don't think there'd be any fear of anything breaking off, tbh. You're only looking at an extension of a half an inch or so from where it is now.

Yeah just glue a thine plasticard piece under the wings, and add a second detailed piece on top of that. There might be a tad of putty needed to line the depths up so the extension is level with the stock body.

It will look cool.

It shouldn't be too hard to just trim the wing's leading edge back to a straight line then add a new pointed edge using plasticard. And as Joe said, glue some under the wing to reinforce it and give it strength. This would probably be one of the easiest conversion to carry out.

When you've done it, make sure to post some pics. :)

Okay, okay, thank you for the positive reinforcement haha. I appreciate the comment about making the bottom sturdier. I have used plasticard for tanks before, but these X-Wing ships are so small. I will come back to this thread when the fleet gets off the boat. ;)

Trust me, these models aren't that small. I normally work on models much smaller than these. :)
