YT-2400

By northdownwest, in X-Wing

So I got one for Christmas and I've used it in 2 games so far and I feel it's a little underwhelming for it's point cost. What have your experances been with it and how are you running it?

I have limited experience flying it, but I treat it just like any other expensive ship. Load it up with something to help it hit and keep it alive (Recon Specialist is a solid choice). The Outrider title is great, but I regularly fly a Firespray with a HLC and it makes its points back without the turret option. The YT-2400 without the title has the added benefit of being able to fire of a 360 primary attack if something makes it out of your arc - not a huge benefit, but better than nothing.

I like Leebo with Ptl/HLC/Outrider/Kyle. I tried Recon Specialist first but PtL makes better use of the Barrel Roll option.

Came in first at our store tournament with

Dash

Ptl

Kyle

Engine upgrade

Proton rocket

Hlc

Outrider

3x z95

This build is highly maneuverable, and kind of disgusting.

Like anything it has its weakness but it is a beast to fly.

It's immensely fun to use if you have a sneaky/avoidant playstyle, because the dial offers so many options.

I've played multiple games with Outrider Dash, Outrider Leebo (+ Chewie), and non-Outrider HLC Fringers.

Everybody realizes how strong Dash can be, but he has hard counters that can sink a game. Leebo's solid, but has the same weakness and is even more exploitable. HLC Fringers can be tough to keep on target, but when you do they're surprisingly dangerous.

The HLC on a swivel can be very deadly and I have found that it is not terribly hard to keep it on target. The new mangler cannon will probably be my go-to setup for this ship once we get it unless the damage dropoff from 4 to 3 dice w/crit is too much. It feel different enough from the YT-1300 to be fun for me.

When the new manglor cannon comes out you lose the range 1 donut.. might be an improvement for it.. 3 dice in all range bands trumps 4 dice in only 2.. in my view..

And Automatically 1 impact becomes a critical, this cannon is ideal to fight agains swarms

I'm still wary. Canceling three hits is not a huge trick, and the Mangler debuts in the same expansion as the Autothruster. A 12-point Academy a pilot can do it. Very, very few shops can cancel four hits.

What are you talking about? All 3 green dice ships except the defender have the evade action, so if you can stop 3 you can stop 4. Neither is easy for anyone though.

Don't forget the price differential, 7 points gets you mangler and predator VS just a HLC, having an extra reroll means you are more likely to get 3 hits from the mangler than you are to get 4 from a HLC

Personally, I think just running a YT-2400 with an HLC (no outrider) would probably be fine, shave 5 points, and the only down side? Actually having to keep your opponent in arc to shoot the cannon at them(what a novel idea lol)

Honestly, been coming around to the same conclusion both for gameplay purposes (phantoms everywhere) and gameplay preferences (360 turrets just feel disgusting)

With the Yt-2400s beautiful dial (basically the best in the game in that it has literally every maneuver aside from different speed Ks and the Defender's white K) and Dash's ability, it shouldn't be too difficult to use as an arced ship.

Wild space fringed is underwhelming. Green dice suck.

Go for dash. :D. Complain OP on forums. Done.

I have found it to be a lot of fun to play. The fact that it is rather maneuverable and agile for a large ship has shown itself to be really useful for getting out of fire arcs and for keeping targets in yours. Also for controlling the range of engagements (especially when you fit Engine Upgrade).
