oh, and gloss coat the light when done.
VT-49 repaints
The VT-49 Dragnet?
yeah, i may cover a few of them up and do them in green. probably a little too much....
Nice job, really likes how the blue and red parts break the uniform color.
I was never a fan of the VT-49 Decimator look, but its depiction in Star Wars Commander changed my mind and inspired the following scheme:
Looks to me that in your reference picture the bits connecting the central fuselage to the spikewings are also black. Considered putting that detail in?
It'd look something like this (made from your original image and five minutes in paint.net)

Nice job. I'm still mulling that one over, but it helps to see it like this.

Here goes my failed blatant ripoff of a previous paintjob. Sorry sc077y, but I liked your idea and tried to make use of it minus the lights obviously, but my execution was obviously terrible.

Top/Rear

Based on the provided pictures, I'd hardly call that terrible.
The only problem with it I see is maybe too much dark grey. If you went back and made some of the dark grey panels an intermediate shade of grey it might help.
Other than that though it looks great.
It does look great, engine glow and everything.
It is the 'Grey Death' .
Thank you for the kind words guys. Sorry for the pic quality, currently stuck with what my Phone can do until I get batteries for the actual camera.
Cheers
Well, here is my VT-49.
Not sure if I'm too happy with it. I think i should have just used Kandy coats on the light effects, or should have just left hem off, but i wanted to do something to break up the giant grey mass on the table.
I also noticed that my phone for some reason picked up the blues in the striping really really vibrantly. Thats odd, because they aren't that bright in person, so it might be light refraction, but not sure. My phone may just pick up blues more easily.
anyway, feedback and comments welcome...
This is what Judge Dredd would fly in space... I AM THE LAW!

Xmage, did you just make a Decimator look sleek & sexy?! Looks like he's really trim!

That is very nice:)
I love the lighting effects. Big ships should have banks of flashing lights.
It's the rule of cool!
Painted up a second one with similar livery to the first.

I'm wondering, though, if I should change those pips on the side from red to blue? Any thoughts?
On the one on the right? Absolutely not. The red adds just the right splash of color to keep it from being monotonous.
