So, I'm not even a beginner let alone a pro (And i'm sure it shows), and I don't have any painting tools - but I wanted to push my X-wing miniatures a little bit further, and I have 4 HWKs, so I thought it would be a good place to start, some moderate success has led me to try very small detail touches to my other models.
It's pretty neat that you can add very small details to really differentiate and give a feel to ships - and it's not a full repaint, but this post shows that absolute beginners and very minor detailing is enough to add quite a bit of life to the models...
So, the equipment I used?
Sharpie brush pen and sharpie oil paints...
The brush ones aren't shown here - I used the red and blue ones for the engines, and the brush red, blue and green for the other details...
Y-wing, Droid, Laser cannons and engine...
E-wing, Engine, X-wing w r7, and green laser cowlings w y-wing
HWK engines (also added a little white to the center for a glow effect) and Moldy crow..
Z-95 Small panels, Engine and small glow.
X-wing, droid, Laser striping and cannon cowling
