Super Dash?????

By Grave13, in X-Wing Squad Lists

What is this super dash list build I keep hearing about? What is it comprised of??? And why is feared?

Typically something like this:

Dash Rendar (36)

+ Outrider (5)

+ Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

+ Engine Upgrade (4)

+ Kyle Katarn (3)

+ Push the Limit (3)

Comes to 58 points. Dash can fly through obstacles and use both Boost and Barrel Roll thanks to Engine Upgrade and Push the Limit to go pretty much anywhere. On the following turns, after doing a green maneuver to clear stress, Kyle gives him a free focus token, essentially resulting in 3 actions per turn. On top of that, his weapon of choice is a 4-dice turret that denies range 3 defense bonuses. It has some drawbacks (susceptible to blocking, PS7, range 1 "doughnut hole") but is very solid on both offense and defense (even if you're not spending that Focus on offense, you have 4 dice; even if you're not spending it on defense, you have 2 dice and 5 Hull and 5 Shields).

Im hearing Corran Horn is this build preferred wingman. Is that true or is it just fill out to a persons preference?

Personal preference, but I like 2 rookies with Super Dash

It's a popular combo, and one I like personally. With room for only 7 points of upgrades on Corran, you might see him with Push the Limit and R2-D2 most often. Alternatively, Fire-Control System and Veteran Instincts instead of PtL, depending on meta and taste.

Corran helps you take out named Phantoms with ACD. However, I have seen Super Dash run with Chewbacca or with 3 Z-95s.

Thank you all for the helpful advice

I run him lighter. Nien Nunb instead of EU because he's so susceptible to blocking in the Super build. On top of that 2 Zs and a B or Rookie w R2.

Im starting to like the idea of B wings more and more with super dash what would anyone recomend on kitting out B wings with Dash? Any named pilots? Generics?

He is a good wingman and Corran with R2D2 FCS and VI slides in at 42 points.

I have been considering this list:

How about?

52 Dash

40 Nera Dantels
Nera Dantels (26)
Fire control system (2)
B-wing/E2 (1)
Jan Ors (3)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
Proton Torpedoes (4)

The point is that Jan Ors gives an evade token to Dash when he gets two focus each turn from the recon specialist.
Nera Dantels aim's to fly within 2-3 of dash, so she can fire proton torpedoes(they are 360 degree for her) at anything that comes close to Dash-bubble, and still pull out Jan Ors abilety for him

Leaves 8 pts for more fun, engine upgrades, countermeasures?

Did you say she can fire torpedos at 360 degrees

Yup
http://xwing-miniatures.wikia.com/wiki/Nera_Dantels

She can fire at ships outside her firing arc, but only with torpedoes. So it's like a turret for two turns.
But, this B-wing would be expensive and maybe not that cost effective.

I used a similar build yesterday against 2 S&V Firesprays (Kath and Emon), and neither of my ships was destroyed (both of my ships ended up with only 1 hull damage each). Here was my build:

Dash Rendar (36)

Push the Limit (3)

"Mangler" Cannon (4)

Kyle Katarn (3)

Outrider (5)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Nera Dantels (26)

Deadeye (1)

I like dropping Kyle for Nien on Dash so I have a bit more room on Corran. Helps with the blocking/stress and leaves enough room for my favorite Corran build (Corran + VI + FCS + R7 + Engine). Of course, only I seem to like that Corran build and things are a bit different now that phantoms have changed, but I still think the Dash build with Nien is the better one.

Corran Horn (35)

Super Dash with Kanan instead of Kyle is a monster and doesn't care about stress, the two A-Wings are good blockers and are quiet dangerous with their prockets

Poe probably is the better wingman than Corran here, you don't have to compromise there.

Super Dash murders anything that is at PS<6, but very vulnerable to ships that can get into his R1 donut, mainly high PS arc-dodgers. You need his wingmen/man to cover this weakness. A couple of blockers, a stress inducing ship or a pilot with PS10-11 and barrel roll or boost are all good choices.
