A question for card suggestions

By Catsodomy, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

I understand that only the Champions have any RIGHT to create cards, however I was wondering if there was a way to submit ideas about an Identity(shaper)/Console. I could simply let the cat out of the bag in the forum, but that seems to have negative legal implications should I actually want to see these cards produced. Im not "Hardcore" enough to warrent being a playtester, and regardless, my work schedule would prohibit it, therefor this is the avenue I find most attractive to ask this question in.

Your best bet, is to get in touch with FFG through the 'contact us' link below. You'd likely have to rescind any legal claim to the card design beforehand.

I hate to wind up being so negative all the time, but I think you're probably not going to see your card printed. The playtest period is generally six to eight months ahead of current releases, and the "alpha" design and testing is about six to eight months ahead of that. The SanSan cycle is probably finalized, the 4th Deluxe set may be more or less finalized, and the fifth data pack cycle is probably very far along. So their horizon for card design to address the current card pool is much farther along than the general community.

Most game design companies are deluged with ideas from fans, or so people associated with Z-Man Games, FFG, and White Wolf have told me, and unsolicited contributions generally go into the "slush pile" and it's not given a lot of attention.

Oh, I wasnt expecting a fast turn arround. FFG games are amazing, but I (with great agony) know their release/re-release schedules with X-wing. It would just be nice to put a couple of ideas in someones ear to try and motivate their brains a different way. When I saw the spoilers for the new Jinteki @,@,@ Flip Card mechanic it got me to thinking what else could be done in a meta sense of the game that wasnt "completely broken".

You should expect little and less, turnaround notwithstanding. The frequency of fantasy card design threads on places like BGG and Reddit mean that various ideas are just a constant level of chatter. I don't mean it sarcastically, even though there's no other way to say it: what makes your ideas so special that they would stand out from all the background noise, and the constant feedback people are giving the developers on the state of the game?

My only comment about the timelines of card design is that for general players, any designs we have *now* are necessarily embedded in the current meta of the game, and the designers have already implemented the solutions and changes to what we're currently experiencing. We're behind the curve, they're thinking twelve to eighteen months ahead of us. That's another obstacle which would make it unlikely that our proposals would be add value since what they're designing today is grounded in many months' worth of releases we know nothing about.

What I'm saying is that this is meant to be read kindly. I'm not saying you don't have good ideas, I'm just saying that you--indeed, none of us--are probably not in a position to offer much added value to the process.

My only advice is that you should keep practicing, get good, build relationships. Achieve tournament standings which demonstrate you have your head in the highest levels of the game. People like El-Ad David Amir, Spags, and Mediohxcore have earned their place in the conversation, and their opinions carry more weight than average when they comment on current conditions.
