EotE Origins: Konan Nazreth

By Konan Nazreth, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Konan:

It has been a long time since I've seen them, but I remember a scene from the first Conan movie which inspired my character's background.

There was a boy in chains pushing a big wheel round and round. Next I remember the boy becomes Schwarzenegger.

My character would begin a slave, but through the slavery he would become strong.

Nazreth:

The biblical Samson, a Nazarite, who was given superhuman strength by God. My character doesn't know it, but the Force is giving him strength and abilities to help him survive.

Konan Nazareth

At age 5, in the year 20BBY, an army of droids seized the mining world of his birth. He, and many others, were forced into the mine and made to work without the aid of technology. He should have died, but somehow he found the strength to survive.

After the Clone Wars the Empire continued to allow the droids there to run the mines, for a substantial cut. By the year 7BBY, Konan had become tall and strong. It was then that his masters dragged him away from the mines and put him in the fighting arena. Little did his masters know that he was literally dreaming of his escape: how, where and when.

This is where my character begins. The ideas are still being bounced around, but the first game of EotE will be escaping the arena.

I'm still working on my character himself. Problem is there's a lot of choices. But this is, on paper, what I want:

He's not got many skills beyond being strong, cunning and a fighter. Got survival skills too. But then there's the Force.

I want him to be able to see glimpses of the near future. He needs to be able to boost his strength, speed or agility when the situation calls for it. Same as reflexes.

The way it's being discussed is a "primal use of the Force". Less light sabers, ninja moves and leaping miles into the sky; more vision quests, boosting what he can physically do and perhaps a few tricks such as becoming invisible, intimidating or distracting enemies.

The idea is that he does these naturally, from his perspective, and he doesn't realize it's the Force....

....until someone who knows tells him and gives him training. GM wants a group of characters to play solo "origin" campaigns first. Then unite for a Force and Destiny campaign when they're ready.

He likes Avengers and X-Men.

Sounds fun. Have you checked out the Foresee and Enhance abilities in Force and Destiny? I am sure you have, but don't want to assume. Your ex-slave sounds like a Warrior (Aggressor) to me. Though he doesn't know it, he could subconsciously use the force to demoralize his opponents (IE: Terrify) while committing a Force die to enhance his own strength.

What's your starting XP like? Foresee and Enhance will take some XP, and that's without considering a higher Force rating. So your concept may be a little rough and incomplete in the beginning.

Or I could just play a few "prequel games" to lead up to the day he makes his escape. Up his xp a bit.

I've not seen the Force and Destiny Beta, but googled Force abilities so knew what I wanted was realistic. Might have to check out F&D, perhaps my character is better off jumping straight into that RPG.

Warrior Aggressor. I like that. He is Konan the Barbarian after all.

Both Foresee and Enhance are also available in Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook, but Warrior: Aggressor can only be found within the Force and Destiny Beta Book. Make sure you checkout the latest beta updates before diving into the Aggressor. There were some changes made specifically to that specialization.

Now i have an image of the young slave using the force to push the giant wheel.
