Assistance on Extended Actions?

By Darth Smeg, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Hi!

Our group are just starting to mess with Starship combat, and we have some questions :)

One character can only take one Action every Round, but can he receive Assistance from others in the same way as other tests? Can for Example an Explorator receive a +10 from another character with Tech-Use if they both spend their Round on Aiding the Machine Spirit?

And can several characters take the same Action, and apply their effects to the same target? For example, can the charming Senechal and the Intimidating Ork both take the Put your back into it Action to grant the gunner a total of +10 to his Ballistic Skill tests?

I don't know what the RAW is, but this is what I use:

1) Yes, characters may assist each-other. If they are both trained in the relevant skill, I allow them both to roll, taking the best result. Alternatively, if one isn't trained, or they just don't want to both roll, one can give a +10 to the other. Note, I use the "Maximum actions per ship" optional rule and count both the action and the assist against it, so the players are basically trading extra actions for the chance to make one more reliable.

2) Each action can only be "applied" to a particular thing once, even if rolled multiple times (see above). As well as the logic of people doing or seeing the same things, it also keeps the numbers from running away more than they already do for PC ships.
