Tactical Jammer

By Imwookie2, in X-Wing

Just wondering if anyone has used this with any success? I keep thinking this on a large based ship with Biggs close behind would be awesome.

Yeah, you have to have the protected ship set up to pull fire, or the blocker just gets focused really fast.

I want to try it with a pair of OGP and some sort of miniswarm behind them.

Only used it once or twice, it my experience has been that if the ship that it's equipped on is closer, they usually fire at it since it will mean less green dice most of the time. I haven't tried it with Biggs though...

In Scums faction it will be very good. Firespray/IG2000 with that and wingman with "bodyguard". And everyone have +1 agility ;)

i love tactical jammer, especially on oicunn with rebel captive on board.

sometimes, when your opponent just has tons of HLC coming at you, he wont just shoot the closest target, (although most of the time they do) but if you get another green because of the jammer, especially with fragile ships like ties, who are already evading at 3, sometimes 4 makes the different.

in one game, my opponent was scared of whisper, so he shot at it through the jammer, at range 3, with some b-wings, only one of which had a HLC. he was rolling 3 red, i was rolling 6 green with a focus. He didnt want to shoot the shuttle, as he felt like it was his best opportunity to get shots on whisper before she got into the mix, but didnt feel like (and it wasnt) productive at all.

Whisper fielded 100 points worth of fire, and took nothing for her troubles. The lambda, whisper, and fel quickly put down one of the b wings. next turn another dropped, we racked em back up and he changed his tactic the next game.

and even in doing so, he wholly admitted that just knowing your evade 4 ship becomes evade 5 vs HLC because of it is discouraging enough to not want to shoot at anything else but the shuttle, and really, thats kind of the best case scenario for me.

I've never had much luck with it. I always seemed to be trying too hard to focus the squad around the 1 point mod that my ships get out of position or end up flying into the shield and losing actions.

Though I did have an idea last night for a squad:

Jendon: TJ / title / vader

Tempest: title / ATC x 3

Jendon passes TL's to the Tie/Adv's, who are shadowing the shuttle gaining benefit from the TJ.

I've played against it a few times, but never with it. When I've played against it, I've always shot the ship in front carrying it, or a ship to the side that's not being covered.
