Mountain Expansion

Mountains speak to me more of dragons, giants, dwarves, trolls and even Ice Queens and Dragon Kings. There is a lot of potential to use those legends to make a very unique and interesting place to visit.

Forests would be filled with Fairies, Elves Gnomes and other hazerdous flora and fauna.

I guess that I am indicateing that I like some theme in my games. The main Talisman board is great generic fantasy, filled with our favorite tropes. My hope is the montains (if made) and others go heavily into themes so theye give some much needed variety to the game.

It's indeed a great home for Dwarfs, Trolls, and Giants.

It would be nice to see some evil dwarfs there haha.

The Dragon King should stay on top of the Wizard Tower i think ( in the Inner Region)

But some dragons would be welcome ( wyverns etc)

Maybe it's also a good spot for the Cyclops and the Eye of the beholder gran_risa.gif

The Cyclop can count his sheeps there haha demonio.gif

Look out, or he will eat you !

I was thinking the sea would be a corner expansion, there is no need to try and depict the entire vasty ocean, just that interesting chain of islands off the coast.

I can see the imbalance with my notions about movement in the mountains and forest.

As far as the Dragon King..he can have a home in the mountains but he may move into the CoC as an optional ending.

I like the idea of different inner regions as well, that portal could lead anywhere or everywhere!

The trick is, as I probably mentioned somewhere else, to keep the focus on the goal of the game. Those expansions need to bring you back to the main board and CoC in some way.

There are also 2 lost files adventure cards for the mainboard, that can be used with the Mountain expansion.

They have never seen the light in third edition.

The first one is a band of Carrions: )Similar to harpies) You must try to beat them off by rolling under your strength on two dices.

Otherwise they take you hostage, and they will bring you to the Lost City, high in the Mountains. gran_risa.gif

The Other one is a Magic Gateway. You must do the same as the Harpies, The Magic Gateway warps you also to the Lost City.

I understand now... but over the years the one notion talked about most was a sea all the way around the board... almost like another region instead of realm (isolated expansion board). I think most people will want the four known corner boards instead of a sea corner.

Very true... unless we are talking about an inner region overlay... which doesn't have to be a remake of the same basic ending mechanics. I could possibly imagine a game where there are criteria to fulfil, perhaps more than one set of such, and each win condition list has a different destination. But that's a noiton way out in left field.

Well, it could be possible to make some artwork of islands along the coast in a mountain expansion.., and maybe with bridges included, for rivers and high mountain peaks..

It will give me then a feeling that i am on a adventure far far away.

This will also make the talisman world a lot bigger, than if we are only climbing up a mountain..

A real journey to reach the mountains would be cool, but i am afraid that it will ask for a very big board, or maybe not..

If we look to the dungeon, and see how many spaces and different artwork it posses, maybe that it's possible then...
