Stress Shuttle

By RedDave87, in X-Wing

I thought of this today, and I don't recall ever seeing this discussed.

OGP (21)

+ Accuracy Corrector (3)

+ Gunner (5)

+ Tactician (2)

+ Engine Upgrade (4)

(35 points)

On your first attack (at Range 2), use AC to cancel dice results and choose to add 0 [hits].

Defender receives a stress token.

Gunner performs second attack.

Ac modifies to 2 [hits].

Defender receives another stress token.

In total, the defender takes 2 hits and 2 stress, and you're free to use your action to boost or just to feel less sting after performing a red maneuver.

Any thoughts?

Hmmmm that's interesting. I never saw the second part of AC to be optional

Accuracy Corrector has 'may' in the description?!

Why... just, why?

Lol. That's awesome. And since gunner lets you ATTACK another ship, you could stress out 2 ship at range 2( situation isn't likely, but it is possible)

You my friend have just made the stress-saw even better. I don't know how many times I've shot at an e-wing at range 2, through an asteroid, with just 1 hit rolled, only to watch my opponent roll 3 blanks.

I feel like this ship deserves a better name now.

It would seem that the Albino Void Bison is the only ship with the proper upgrade slots to do this. I remember a discussion about AC and Tactician and cancelling dice just to cause stress. The consensus being that it wasn't worth losing your attack damage just for the stress. With Gunner though, you won't have to miss out on damage. And even if you can't catch someone at Range 2, you still have a consistent damage with Gunner and AC.

Would be cheaper just to put two Tacticians on IMO.

That certainly would be cheaper. And it is a reasonable stress cow.

Or it could just be a Buzzsaw shuttle instead. But to be honest, I've only ever had moderate results with the Buzzsaw shuttle in the past.

with this build, you have the ability to do both. It's just an idea to get more out of combining the two builds.

EDIT: Wait, did math way wrong. It's a 4 point difference.

I'm staring at too many numbers today. Ugh.

I'll probably drop the engine upgrade, but I like it...

I like it! 1 copy of AC in a Star Viper, eh?

It looks like there is 1 AC in both the StarViper and IG-2000.

New name for this version of the great space cow:

Ol' Stressin' Bessy.

I think this may be the first viable use of flechette cannon I've seen. Take an unstressed target up to three stresses!

Won't work. FC needs to hit to dole out stress. If it hits, Gunner doesn't trigger.

Good catch. I'm sure it will find a place... maybe with two tacticians instead of gunner/tactician?

Tycho laughs at your attempt to shut down his actions!

But yeah, in all seriousness, nice combo. I was thinking of tactician/flechette cannon b-wings, but I forgot about the shuttle.

I just recently flew a Blue Squadron B-wing with a Tactician for the first time. It was brutal... Flechette Cannon could be useful, despite all the flak it's been getting lately. People need to remember that you don't need to use it every turn. Plus, it's only 2 points! I can't believe how harsh people judge a 2 point upgrade.

P.S. Psycho Tycho laughs at everything. That's just how he is.

List time. Imperial Control?

Kath Scarlet (38) + Predator (3) + Rebel Captive (3) = 41

Stressy Bessy = 35

Tempest Squadron Pilot (21) + X1 Title + Accuracy Corrector (0) = 21
