What about Water?

By B-Rad1234, in UFS General Discussion

With all this talk of Fire becoming ZOMG with all the new bannings my question is this: What about Water? Now that Olcadan's is gone, it can start actually DOING stuff. Plus it had a LOT of board disruption/manipulation that actually isn't that bad. Some cards include:

Chinese Boxing/Program Malfunction: Well duh, these two cards are increadible, and while yes both run 3 diffs, it's still quite possible to drop em both in the same turn.

Shooting Capoera: Fawking amazing. Not as busted as Higher Calliber, but still quite good.

Angel of Evening: Along the lines of Shoot Cap, though a little more situational, as blocking for awhile didn't exist.

Battle Prowess: Duh?

Alluring Beauty: With all of Water's card draw (Aqua, Bigger, Blue Dragon) discarding two cards may not be that costly if you have one of these things out.

Aquakenisis: Great... Great card

Bigger They Are: Better in shorter characters, but still decent.

The Gorgeous Team: Do I really really need to say anything about this card and how good it is?

Calming the Mind: The card that gives UFS yes men a hard on. Did ya hear it slows down Spinta a little tiny bit?

It's even got decent attacks in:

Feline Spike

Annube Mutsube

Omnidirectional Cluster Bomb

Shadow Blade

Darkness Blade

The only real problem I've forseen so far is that there's a lot of 4 checks in your deck. You also have absolutly zero negation.

Comments?

Doesn't matter with Stained Honor, Rookie's Fortune and Soul of Ling-Sheng-Su.

What about Water? WHAT ABOUT BOB?!

*Bill Murray + Richard Dreyfuss ftw*

It's almost unanimously agreed that symbols that didn't match symbols with the banned cards only got stronger, and Chester's going gave way to a BUNCH of cards.

I've always felt Water was top tier, and I love it. However, with Olcadan's gone you don't have to worry about them clogging your bench with Natural Leaders, Battle Prowess, or anything else you don't need in excess.

The differences between Water and Air are far and few IMO, and I definitely think Water will be even better now that the common enemy of Olcadan's is gone.

/runs off to build Herr off water

be back in a few

Been there, done that... launched turn 2 fully multipled kitty spikes, off 2 foundations and an asset.

Honestly I got the character and can't wait until the official shift to B4 to discover new strategies with the guy. Because All - Turn it On plox. Evil - Knight Breaker ahoy. Water - Feline Spiku.

Is it just me that's getting tired of being able to guess 80% of people's win conditions and be accurate?

Mmmm.

No, it's me too =/. The bans are terrific, don't get me wrong, but the kill conditions still exist, primarily Feline. Ugh...hate that **** card.

Also, Eithnis, while that is pretty cute, Tiger Claw and Tiller the Baby Killer are unnecessary when you're discussing Feline.

and i'm sorry, but stun:5 and 30 damage > stun 2 and 24. Spike is really not that much of a problem. I've never run the card myself, I don't own any copies, and i've never had a problem against it in a tournament. I actually haven't died to it at any of the regionals i've been to. I mean, yes, the card is too good, and I'd have liked to see it go, but I don't care that much if it's still around; it's just less innovation in decks with it around moreso than i've seen in the past, although that's not saying much; there will always be a top attack that is going to be played in every deck. Knightbreaker/ML. Feline Spike. Chain Throw. Shadow Banishment. they're just seen because they're slightly better than others, or in some cases much better.

Besides, the core of the combo i linked was the two yi shan attacks; the spike isn't necessary, just thrown in as the "best attack water can use". It can be replaced with any water attack(s).

The thing is, Spike is generally the only attack needed to win games. At our regionals, the only times my Feline ended up not killing them was because they had Lord of the Makai's E Commit, which won't be a problem come July =)

I've already said, Multiple should not be the way to kill in UFS, at least, not without some prerequisites. Kill conditions should be limited to such things as:

-Static text requiring X-number of attacks preceding (ML, Sieg's Earth Divide, etc)
-Powerful
-Character/Resource-specific abilities
-Combo

Feline is none of that. It's relatively spammable, and wins games.

But yeah, I sure hope Felicia sees more play. I've always said she has one of the best abilities in the game, AND has access to Aquakinesis and The Bigger They Are...

Water's cool. Don't forget about Shadow Blade and High Plasma Beam!

Lols, you referred to Feline as "decent"!. :D

That's not the problem. The problem is when the attack is so **** good that people aren't coming up with new stuff because hey why bother?

However, I will say this.

All/Water build with Herr with Ready for Anything and Stained Honor sounds combotastic.

Yeah, I know the problem, and I agree, I'm just saying a spike that commits more and his harder > a spike that doesn't, s'all. And it doesn't even need to be a spike in that situation. Aside from all of that, I rather no turn this water discussion into a spike discussion :(

You're weeeelcoooooome =D

I was playing water even with Olcadon in the environment.

Now that it's out of the environment all I can say is GOOD LUCK KILLING ME if you're not Order or Hanzo Kick.

I should build an Earth deck, same kind of principle but better kills and control instead of Rejection looping/Busting a Cap

I rebuilt water mai again it looks like it will be a lot of fun . I just can't wait for Mac to come out so I can play death again. gran_risa.gif

ive got a water deck right now that im seriously thinking about taking to worlds with me when i go now that olcadans is gone its definitely the best deck ive built in a while

but who cares if water doesnt have negation thats why you commit it with chinese/malfunction or just stick it in there momentum with clean freak : P

water has the power to do alot of crazy things and its one of the most fun symbols to play right now....at least thats what i think

Water Seong Mi-Na > Order Seong Mi-na.

Although the best Mi-Na is a tri-symbol one, pure Water > pure Order any day.

I wonder, Water Chun Li with Darkness blade...can it work...and should I aggravate my playgroup with it?

Chun-Li makes a LOT possible.

water loops

water controls

water lives

water plays gaint attacks

water plays way too many 4 checks

that is the main reason water is so hard to run.
