I think there is an app or web page that will randomly do actions for X-wing ships. So....you can play against yourself....kind of. You might have to mix X-wings and Imperials to have a full 100 pts....or just proxy the other side's X-wings.

exactly 100 points, can be made with everything you have, and gives you a good hitter in fell, who is made a bit more resilient by the upgrades ( lets you take some damage, so initial mistakes while you are learning the game are less likely to get your best ship killed outright) and 3 tie's with their own special rules, and a generic low end pilot

Backstabber teaches you to outflank your target

mauler and gundark encourage you to try getting in close to get better shots, and the academy pilot teaches you how to work with your basic workhorse

Personally i don't like howlrunner, as she kinda urges you to stick togheter, and i feel more confident with a 'divide and conquer' playstyle myself. But that's something you have to make up for yourself when you have played a few games...
