I like to use the GR as a bus that gets dangerous when the enemies close in. My initial strategy is to fly my ships relatively close together in order to benefit from Biggs and Wedge, with the exception of the A-Wings. Wes is armed with Veteran Instincts so that the rest of the formation can benefit from his ability while Wedge can give initiative to the Biggs, Tarn or the B-Wings. I built Luke out thematically and I tricked out my Green Squadron Pilots with my favorite setup for them to be used as high-octane harassers/blockers.
I tend to shy away from turreted ships like the Outrider and Falcon in these kinds of games because I feel like they're overused in the smaller matches and not nearly as useful in Epic. If you find yourself dumping more points into a flying donut or fat Falcon than you are your support ship, then you may as well spare the points for a support ship and fly that turreted ship as your centerpiece.
Also, the popularity of turreted ships in standard games would make Epic rather dull for me as well, which is why I was hesitant to tack on Biggs, but the value he provides is essential to the squadron's survivability.
I'm excited to see everyone else's lists!
