But what's the meta's thoughts on it with Outrider?

I mean doing the numbers at lowest you're getting 39 cost with the wild space fringer

at highest only 3 points higher than our Chewie in the yt-1300.

Losing 1 attack for no donut seems like a good trade to me
But hey I could be wrong

Interceptors and A-wings will be okay with their new Autothrusters on them but they still will be hurting by this

But what about the others?

Personally I was hoping for a "cancel all damage, assign a face up damage card", it would of been so meta changing. Good by shield heavy ships. Good by 2 hulled ships. Hello 3 hulled x-wing.

I quite like it as basically a nice middle ground sort of attack that gives just enough to make the cost justified. While good on the Outrider I can see it excelling on nearly any cannon equipped ship in the game (hello to Ten Numb and Krassix Trellix especially!)

I would see it with all Outrider titles with only a few veterans confident in their flying abilities to take HLC.

You get a boosted firepower no range gaps and plus the bonus crit for 6 points, as well as remove any range 3 defense bonus.

Cannons are going to need a fix soon. I'm saying a nerf except for the autoblaster, it is the only cannon not over powered.

If every cannon is nerfed that hard nobody'll ever take them. There's also no clean way to mess with them even if FFG thought a nerf was a good idea, which they don't appear to.

I am very in favor of Mangler + Outrider, as I feel the Doughnut was crippling on anyone but Dash + VI.

Building this way basically gives you a Falcon with 2 agility and Barrel-Roll, at the cost of a crew and the MF Title.

Leebomination keeps getting stronger, imho.

I know you started this thread to discuss the Mangler with Outrider, but I keep thinking of Manglers for all sorts of stuff and see this thread.

Look at the Imperial Firespray pilots. Kath with Mangler is going to be mean. Krassis with Mangler will be cheaper and better. That named defensive Scyk and 4 Scyks with Mangler will hurt people.

Since when are cannons over powered? They are the only secondary weapons worth taking. I have rarely seen anything get used other than an HLC and I don't think that even got too much play before the YT-2400 dropped. I don't seem to recall a single cannon making into into the top 32 at Worlds and it looks like they only showed up in 4 of the top 32 at the US Nationals. If cannons were over powered they should be showing up in a lot more of the top lists than they are. The HLC is powerful but it is priced accordingly.

The Autoblaster is terrible and bringing other cannons to its level would just make secondary weapons a waste of points almost across the board.

Don't forget the crits. Falcons and Decimators really don't like being mangled.

Wouldn't it be great to have Rexler in his Tie Defender gets two hits through with a Mangler Cannon? One would turn into a crit, but if he still has a Focus, he can turn another hit into a critial. Two in one turn is nasty....

I can even see taking the generic Defenders with the new cannons.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Rexler's ability turn all damage cards face up? This really wouldn't help him at all

You're not wrong. I don't see any synergy here unless the crits dealt are one of the ones that have you do something and then turn them down (Minor Explosion, Thrust Control Fire, Munitions Failure ), in which case Rexlar would cause them to be flipped back up and applied a second time.
