Storage questions

By herites, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi!

I've got this game as a christmas present from my girlfriend and I'm loving it. Bought the Dunwich Horror expansion, because after a few games we realized that it's kinda needed to shore up the base game's weaknesses and the Lurker at the Threshold just for the fun of it, and we got a nice little clusterf*ck of cards, bits and pieces, etc. The question is, what storage solution do you guys recommend? I've seen a lot of people using plano boxes to store all the pieces and it looks kinda useful, but they dont seem to fit into the boxes with the original inserts. I'm looking for a (maybe plano) box that fits into the game's boxes, storing the monsters, investigators, etc. I'm not against gutting the boxes, throwing out the original inserts and just having a big box in there, but it has to fit all the cards too.

So any ideas how to organize this game, shortening setup times and not roughing up the pieces by just throwing them in the box?

I have all the small cards, AOs, Heralds, Guardians, Investigators, monster chits and gate markers in the original boxes. One plano box for the token (kept outside the boxes) and 22 Ultra Pro deck box for encounters, Mythos and the larger cards.

Congrats for entering the madness, and welcome to the Carnival :)

After like a day's work with crafting foam, X-Acto knives, and superglue, I've made a sorted foam system inside the box. Currently, including one Plano craft box as an insert, I use three large Arkham-sized boxes to hold and sort everything. But, at the expense of organization, I could have gotten it down to two.

It took a while but crafting boxes for all cards really eases setup. For the encounter cards, I made boxes containing three separate encounter decks each that can stand next to the board during play (with the cards in a vertical position to save space). That means three boxes for Arkham encounters and another for each expansion, which also means the Kingsport and Innsmouth boxes were widened to accept four decks.

More boxes were made to hold the various small cards, although some of the cards have been lumped together, such as all membership cards. There are still a few boxes that need crafting actually.

Another thing that really helped to reduce fiddliness during play was to make little sliders for health and stamina, the front of which you can find here , looking like this .

Organising everything takes a while but if you plan on playing a few times, you will find that it is time well spent.

Hey all! I found something that works for me. I got this organization box at hobby lobby for 6.99, a couple of deck boxes, but have yet to find anything for the item cards. It all fits in the original box and is very convenient.

Supercool :)

That is awesome!!! thanks for sharing :D

I've had the the entire game for a year now and I've been keeping everything sorted into the box it came in. I'm finally getting around to making foam Card holders and token trays.

Well, I just got the game and started playing a couple of months ago. I now have the base game, Dunwich Horror, King in Yellow & Curse of the Dark Pharoah. I started storing with ziploc bags, then upgraded to a couple of trays similar to sgtkneecaps setup. But I'm thinking I want to do more. Now I'd like to make a wooden storage box to store everything.

I'm thinking slots for each type of card, with some labels like fealthas used so I don't have to pull them all out to use them. Maybe a removable tray for the monster cup. A place in the top of the box for token containers, and finally slots for the boards and rules.

I'm also going to make a couple of custom wood dice towers for the game. (probably woodburn an elder sign in each.)

Sounds fantastic! Be sure to post the results here somewhere when you have it done.

I also want to upgrade to a new box. Especially since I have my first expansion coming.

Which one?

My sister got me one of the Hobby Lobby artist cases for Christmas, so I'm working on getting my stuff into that. The one clasp broke almost instantaneously, so I replaced it with some nice new ones. Now I am trying to figure out how to fit my stuff (currently the base game + the three city expansions) in the case, and whether I want to try to make dividers out of foamcore or something else. I've got all the miniatures also, so I'm thinking not everything is going to fit unless I get another box or get really creative.
