I've been wanting to get into Descent 2e for a while now, but notice that most places are sold out or are charging stupid high prices ($100-$130+) for the core set. Sorry, not paying that. Does this mean the game is out of print? Do you think they will do another print run of 2e or wait until they decide to do 3e? I know they just released another campaign/expansion for 2e, so the game obviously still has legs. Seems like a no-brainer to do another print run of the core game.

Descent 2e is currently in reprint mode, and is on the boat. It is expected in Q1 2015.

I should also point out that many of the expansions are currently still available. If you have any interest in them at all, you may want to consider buying them now. Often, when the core game gets re-released and is available, it triggers people also buying the available expansions, and then they become not available until the next re-print. Thus, you may be able to acquire the core game, but no expansions.

Just something to consider. Not trying to cause panic.
