Gunner+FCS or HLC

While upgrading my Shuttle I wasn't sure what option to choose Gunner+FCS or HLC? This could also be a question on the B-wing, but would cost 8 pts for Gunner+FCS.

Anyone have an opinion. With the recent surge of Decimators I'm not sure how many times you will miss and trigger Gunner.

I think it comes down to what you want in your list. HLC gives you a bigger punch while gunner+FCS gives you more consistent damage. One big question for FCS is how reliable is the ship at keeping the same ship in it's firing arc for multiple turns.

There aren't many ships with the option of choosing between those two. Between the two the HLC is better - shuttles typically have low pilot skill so you'll be shooting at targets that already burnt their tokens anyway.

For shuttle builds in general though, you want Engines, and you want to be cheap after that, so Engines + FCS is pretty good.

Of the 2 u would pick HLC. The point saving could mean a great deal for the other supporting ships.

Another option you might want to consider is FCS + WEPENG (6pts) which would free up 1 more point for other ships / upgrades.

Ion + Accuracy Corrector is also a decent 6pts option since if you "whiff" on the Ion you can correct it. And save your actions for maneuvering (BR) or Defence (Focus) sure its only 1 Agility you're able to modify, but an increase chance to evade could prove paramount.

Go for both

For fun I saw someone do a full loaded shuttle.

Gunner fcs HLC tactician engine upgrade. Incredibly powerful and fun ship.

Run with something else casual. Howl swarm or 5 tie swarm.

Let the ties run interference so that focusing the shuttle becomes really costly.

That or two royals for fun.

I like my B-wings dirty cheap. Bwing + FCS is just neat already, anything you add on top of it, is more likely to not be cost efficient.

If the HLC misses gunner triggers and performs a primary weapon attack. That does work.

that is my understanding as well dvor.

It really comes down to how many low agility ships you face. Gunner does not get triggered very often when facing those 1 and 2 agility ships where Heavy Laser Cannon will cause more damage.

Unless you're in the Outrider, where you no longer have a Primary attack. Then it's directly antisynergistic.
