That would probably be a good bet against predator or maybe if you are facing a Z swarm. The more I think about it the more I love the Tie X1 title. The rebels have r2-d2 and so many more incredible option for droids and unique crew that I think the new advanced is a much needed addition to the imperials.

With the kindness of my friends, today I flew 2 lists..

Vader with EU, predator and ththe title and ATC, with 3 tempest with title and AC. I lost this match to a good player that had a good 3 phantom list. I did have some really bad die rolls, and he did have more good roll than I dI'd. We did some fine tuning and I changed it for a second game against another player.

That list was Vader with title and ATC and predator, and the 3 tempests with title and ATC. This ran better and I wone having only lost one of the tempests. All the remaining ships were down to hull points in the final round.

I have another list I'm trying friday, it will consist of Stele with predator, EU and cluster missiles title and AC and 2 storms with the same load out. Should be 100 points I think. I may drop back to tempests to get initiative bid and the one point to give to Stele for ATC. Should be a fun day...

Tried Vader with ATC yesterday in an epic game. He was a blast 1 shotting a lowly z95 and heavily damaging 2 others before he was focussed down by evil rebel scum and taking 3 separate attacks from the Tantive. His defence suffered a little as I was using tgt lock actions and not turtling up so as to use the ATC effects. All in all though very pleased as I often use Vader and he is now better.

However i have never used Stele or the generics but may well do so when my second Advanced arrives.

I'm glad we are going to finally see the massive fleets of TIE Advanced fighters that were always described in Star Wars lore.

I'm really looking forward to flying vessery with some advanced. It's the ship he's always wanted alongside him.

Despite the sarcasm here, i would point out that there WERE qhole squadrons of Tie Advanced in Star Wars lore. Such as, unsurprisingly, Storm Squadron.

I also flew Vader with a defender and a tempest the other night and it was quite fun. It now gives your opponent two very deadly ships to deal with and the choice of who to drop first more difficult. Making your opponent choose can sometimes result in a bad choice and give you the edge. I love that psychological part of this game.

Plus, you can only run up to four in a list anyway, a pretty paltry squadron. At best that's a "strike force."

Hey in ace combat the squadrons could be only three or four people. Seems very tight.

Haha fair enough! 4-5 ships is a nice solid build, and it usually means you aren't overly reliant on any one ship. It's usually three TIEs or Headhunters that get you to 5 or 6, but that's neither here nor there.

I'm still a sucker for a heavy 3-ship squad myself, and with some of the upgrades coming out I don't think I'll be alone at all. There's definitely a lot more pressure to make everyone pull their fair share, though!

Yup! I was talking to the other Nova squadron casters about that one. I'm building a collection of starter lists as a guide, and that one is in there.

Yeah, I was thinking about variants and that would be one. Also could swap Lone Wolf on Vader for Predator to avoid the spacing that LW requires. I think your list probably is the strongest of the three, though. Fel could use that help staying alive more than Vader.

I think 4 tempest and backstabber could be pretty solid as well. The real decision will be when auto thrusters come out. You will have two very nice options for that 20-30 point range. One very capable offensive ship in the interceptor and one very tough to kill ship in the Tie x1.

Auto thrusters requires the boost action to use, so it cant go on advanced ships...

Yesterdays game was a god show for the advanceds, as in my second game I focused down a decimator with Vader and a tempest in 4 turns. I had previously blown the shields off, then decided to focus on it with the 2, and still had one tempest giving dark curse a run for his money.

I think te ATC was the most effective in that I had a crit every attack, and I even had a double crit on one turn. Many shots were range one..

A couple times. Was pretty fun. Vader is very good now. Most of his attacks were hit-hit-crit or hit-crit-crit.

That's pretty much my 9s list I run, the Auto thrusters is what I was going to do as well.. but still situational, unless you can stay in their 3 range, and swoop in for range one arc dodging fun...

The old three amigo's list of Vader, Fel and Phennir will be much deadlier and survivable once all these cards hit the scene. I tried the old version of it a few times but once you lost a ship too early it was over very fast and Vader never could do enough damage it seemed. Auto-thrusters and Tie x1 make this a much more attractive list to try out.
