Fantasy Flight models required?

By FNG tie pilot, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I played Warhammer 40k for 4-5 years. Games Worshop required that at least 50% of the model be made up of Games Workshop pieces.

For X-mas I got a small Lego Lambda shuttle that is almost the exact scale of the FFG xwings miniatures. Sadly, it's top fin/wing is about 1/8 of an inch to high to fit into my battle foam.

The question though, is that assuming I can get the Lego one to stay on the base, could I fly it at official tournaments such as GENCON or the likes? Didn't see anything regarding this in the rules, but I probably missed it

Games Worshop required that at least 50% of the model be made up of Games Workshop pieces.

Games Workshop requires that 100% of the models have to made up entirely of Games Workshop pieces.

"1. All your miniatures have been produced by Games Workshop (Citadel, Forge World or Warhammer Forge). We do not allow the use of other companies’ models, scenery or conversion kits at Warhammer World. If we see such a model on a table, or we suspect that a model falls under this criteria, then we will politely ask you to remove it from the table.

It is in your best interests to make sure that you adhere to this rule as you don’t want to lose any key units halfway through a game.

Okay. Good to know. Even though I no longer play 40k. but what about FFG?

There are same position as I know.

You can't use third-party models, printed cards and even dials from other factions (rebel Z-95 dial for scum Z-95).

From the X-Wing Tournament Rules:

During tournament play, each player is required to use components included in official X-Wing products with the exception of third party maneuver templates, tokens, and range rulers, the use of which is addressed below.

Ship, base, and card proxies are not allowed. Asteroids and other obstacles may not be modified in any way. Custom “setup” templates designed to aid players in ship deployment are not allowed. However, players may use their range rulers and maneuver templates to help them set up formations during deployment.

So the official answer on a Lego Lambda is likely to be a "no".

why would you want to use a LEGO Lambda??? the FFG one is really cool looking.. the Lego one looks like a LEGO Lambda?? dont get me wrong its cool looking (For lego) but its still lego...

Down at our local gaming club, one of the younger guys showed up one day for a game of Warhammer 40K Apocalypse and bought along a Warhound Titan... made entirely from Lego. It was impressive, but it was still Lego.

to me lego is basically a 3D puzzle its NOT an accurate representation... fun EXPENSIVE toy... my "Miniatures" are NOT toys...lol

At the FLGS I play at one of the guys had an entire Lego Tau army. It made 40K look like a game I would like to play.

OP wasn't talking about your minis, he was talking about the lego Lambda that he thinks looks cooler than the FFG model. Different people have different tastes, that doesn't make them wrong.

Not using the official x-wing model for each corresponding unit is not allowed in tournaments or organized play...for good reason, FFG wants their excellent models to be on display when people are playing official games. For casual and pick-up games, most people are cool with it since the models don't actually affect the game except from an aesthetic standpoint, and "Fly Casual".

I was merely asking because it's nice to see people running something that looks different but fulfills the same role aesthetically. In all reality, line of sight doesn't matter very much in this game. It's a matter of chunk of plastic "a" or chunk of plastic "b" going on top of a flight stand.

which lego lamda? the BIG 500 buck one.. that one does look cool as do most of the HUGE lego sets however its way out of scale and the smaller one looks more lego like then lamda... All i was saying is that the FFG lamda is CHEAPER than the lego lamda AND its a more accurate representation... i personally got into this game because the miniatures were cool looking and accurate and i like the fact that they WERE all in the same scale... I mean theoretically we could all fly plastic bases around the board but that wouldn't be nearly as cool....basically what tvboy said... I used to play starfleet battles and those miniatures sucked AND you had to paint them to make them look halfway decent.. if you want to be different paint an FFG Lambda!! I have seen some really cool paint jobs on here!! I purchased an extra Lamda just for that purpose.. haven't decided on the color yet.. thinking camouflage as a tactical shuttle or something.. or an over all washed out olive drab or gloss black.. Got to finish the 1/72 migs that i are currently in the Q first though... too many hobbies!!

I got really small 40-60 piece shuttle for Christmas. Wasn't really expecting it. Lol. Figured I could get some use it of it by using it in Xwing. I love the FFG models. Trust me, I played 40k for 5 years. I love the game, but I absolutely hate building and painting models, which is part of the reason I switched to xwing

yeah i figured ANYBODY that played 40K can afford an FFG lambda..lol unless playing 40K IS the reason one cant afford an FFG lambda!!! my LGS seems to be ONE HUGE 40 K display!!!
