Mirror Matches

So we see a lot of chatter about these new reliable top-tier lists and how they perform against other match-ups, but what's the plan, generally, when they mirror match?

I'd love to hear from any wily foxes out there that can outwit their opponent who is flying the same list as them;

  • Fat Han
  • Phantom & Decimator or Mini Swarm
  • Dash & Corran

I might be missing another one, but generally, how do people deal with those lists when they're flying the same thing?

Minor tweaks intended to give you an edge in mirror matches against the most common variety of the build like Paul Heaver tossing an R2-D2 on his Fat Han to beat other Fat Hans at Worlds.

Initiative and positioning also play a role. In a Han v Han or Dash v Dash battle, shooting first is an advantage. Your Zs can block the opposing Zs, reducing incoming damage taken, your crits can impact their ability to attack (if you kill Dash's cannon, you'll take a lot less return fire).

When contemplating how your fleet operates against archetypes in your meta, remember to test it against its own archetype, as you are unlikely to be unique in your decision-making.
