If Kath attacks with a Flechette Cannon, rolls 2 crits and the defender cancelled one crit. Is the defender assigned 2 stress tokens or only one?

During Compare Results the defender cancels one 
. The pilot ability triggers. The defender receives a stress token.
After Compare Results, the fact that the defender is hit is established. Flechette Cannon triggers but does not assign a stress token.

That would probably help alleviate so much "hit" terminology confusion (ForgottenLore would be pleased, lol)
