An EPT on Gamma Squadron pilots would have helped as well
Fixing ships in general
Hi,
I dont play enough X-Wing to really know which ships need fixing, and what. But I have another idea of fixing ships in general: What about introducing new ships, against which the ship which needs fixing is especially good? I have no clue, as to how that would work for a given case, but maybe something like:
Enemy ships, which are in range 1 during the planning pahse, cant use red manovers with a speed 1-2.
This would help the X-Wing in comparison to the B-Wing, without the need to buy a specific expansion for the X-Wing. Of course, if these new ships would not be fielded in your area, it does nothing. You could do it as an ship ability, or a pilot ability, or even as some new ordnance? Could something like this work?
One of my Boss' fixes is Linked Cannons. They cost zero and allow all ships with a hull and attack of three plus to change a focus to a critical. Why? Cause these beefy high cost ships all have at least four cannons on them and dab-nabbit they should be able to light an ass up. I do limit the use to pilots with a skill of three or better.
I think instead of poking fun at Starkiller for his ideas we should grind him into oblivion for not believing in the power of the Empire.
Interceptors' boost is coming. It is called autothrusters. If also helps those bi*ch a-wings from the scourge of the turrets.
X-wings barrel rolling is a travesty. They aren't as maneuverable. Period. Unless we want change all game mechanics and give all ships that have barrel roll as an action now the ability to barrel for free. No action. Just barrel roll every time.
Wave five is the debut of 2 ship lists being legit, as the galactic cup showed.
Defenders don't need a boost. Play three with ion cannons against Dash, or the Rear Admiral, and see how you like that, because the dark side in you will rejoice with the fire and hatred of winning despicably.
If anything needs a fix. It should be slow, deliberate, and done by wave. Which wave are we fixing?
Let's "boost" ships, as was suggested, not "fix" them, unless entirely necessary.
Edited by HuhwhatThe peril of taking this approach with everything is sooner or later when you buy a ship blister you need not only that blister but also two ace packs and a huge ship to actually use it.
From FFG's perspective, that is not a problem: that is their business model.
I'm sure the developers would rather have gone back in time and changed many things, but their version of "patching" is to release new expansions with fixes. This incidentally increases FFG's revenue stream.
For balancing ships for casual play, I'm of course partial to my House Rules .
Be thankful for the fixes we get companies like gw can take five years to bring out a new codex and even then may not change what's wrong or even make it worse.
Just look at chaos space marine possesed.
