Question about # of squadrons vs. squadron command actions

By R22, in Star Wars: Armada

Let's say you are running a Vic SD (for the sake of the question, pretend that's the whole list for now). It has a squadron value of 3.

1. Does this mean you can only bring 3 squadrons?

2. If it means you can bring more than 3 squadrons, pretend you bring 4 and reveal a squadron command. What happens now? If the other 3 are all affected, what happens to the 4th squadron?

3. Does every squadron get an action/movement during the squadron phase regardless of receiving a squadron command? i.e., You can bring more squadrons than your 'squadron command' but the excess squadrons are less effective somehow. Meaning you could bring a Vic SD (squadron command of 3) and 5 squadrons. OR: Put another way, what happens when you lose some capital ships and have less squadron command capacity than remaining squadrons?

These questions basically revolve around the question of whether or not you can bring more squadrons than you have 'squadron command' to account for and, if possible, why would you?. If you can, is it that A) the excess ships loiter until a command is given (effectively hanging out in space as dead points unless the battle literally moves into them) or B) they are actually still active players but less effective without the benefit of a squadron command?

1.I dont believe so. I think you can bring as many as you like.

2. The 4th simply doesn't move in this phase, and gets left behind. It can still move i the Squadron phase, but wont get to attack.

3. Every squadron gets EITHER an attack or a move in the squadron phase, assuming they didnt receive a Squadron Command. They need the command in order to move AND attack though.

I think bringing more is fine, especially for Imperials so that they can throw waves of fighters forward. Use the the squadron command for "the active wave", and with the others stay close to your capital ships using the Squadron Phase moves until they are ready to act.

Each squadron gets activated *once* during a round. Either during the ship phase with a squadron command, or in the squadron phase if it did *not* receive a squadron command.

If it is activated in the ship phase (i.e. it receives a squadron command) it can *both* move and attack. If it does not receive a squadron command, and is thus activated in the squadron phase, it will either only attack, or only move.

As far as we are aware at this time, you can bring as many squadrons as your point value allows.

So, active but less effective, yes.
