I just saw an imperial ship that I'd never seen before

By nikk whyte, in X-Wing

It appeared to be a bomber, but the bomb half was a double decker and it had defender wings. There were several flying behind the slave one in an illustration I stumbled across.

Any idea what they were?

It's the new title for the TIE Defender that would undoubtedly be released in a combo pack with the 2nd Imperial Epic ship.

For new imperial ships put a sphere or series of cylinder structures together add the hex grid wind shield and slap solar wings after it.

For a new rebel ship pick a letter of the alphabet that hasn't been used yet, try to make the ship look remotely similar to that letter when looking from a specific angle.

Now I want to see boarding torpedoes in the game!

Explain how the E-wing looks like an E...

I wanna see a Q-wing

Boarding pods! That woukd be a cool addition to the game! How coukd they work? Roll a number of red dice for the boarding action,( maybe 3 for stormtroopers) defender rolls 1+number of crew. Each hit destroys a stormtrooper die or removes crew member/pilot. If stormtroooers win. Ship drifts 1 each turn.

Terror Troopers and Boarding Torps ... thats EXACTLY what a dogfighting game NEEDS.

How could we lived without them all the time?

With the laser cannons right next to the engines and the body extending out it looks remotely like an E from on top.

E TopE-WingThumb.jpg

It doesn't have to look exactly like the letter but only similar in abstract, just take a look at the A-wings.

and as for the Q-wings ;)

Though I would say it looks surprisingly similar to the YT-2400.

I assume he is talking about this

And if the guys at wookiepedia are drawing a blank, I doubt anyone else will come up with anything.

That's her. Now I want to see it in game. Bombers are one of those things people have said are relatively outmatched (though I believe this isn't true) and could possibly see an update. The only problem is there isn't any design space for it, especially with the new advanced plugging a hole for the empire. Ordnance carriers have to be cheap to offset the cost of ordnance.

A bomber/defender mix would probably start around 20 points. Which would be too much.

TIE/IT Interdictor starfighter

Special rule:

You cannot give up until the Interdictor is destroyed

It can't compare to the moment the "Third Faction Not Happening" thread was blown apart by a certain GenCon announcement.

Is it the TIE Heavy Bomber? Although your description about the wings makes it sound like it could be a Gand Starfighter.http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE_Heavy_BomberTIEHeavy-SWGB.pnghttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gand_starfighter

You reminded me of this other bomber:

Might be just perspective, but that's a big ship.

I like it:)

So many people saying they think it's ugly, now will have to battle against it, ha ha.

It being huge is what I love about it, four times the ordinance pods.

And I'm sure the (solar) panels are slightly bigger too.

I wanna know why they classed the Aggressor as a "Heavy" Fighter, but These two K & Punisher (interdicter) Arn't on large basis?

As a bomber fan, I have always loved the heavy, and the interdictor... I am very excited to own 4 of these... just because I love em so much.. and I'm looking forward to the ordnance fix coming as well.. tomorrows tourney, I have a Decimator/2 bomber list I'm running.. it usually surprises a few people.. and the prox mines are just so fun.. and a proton bomb on the VT49.. is the big surprise..nhaha

If the TIE defender was 30 points I hate to see the point cost on this thing.

Although it looks like they put a Bomber inside of a Bomber, I know this design was made before FFG and Disney got their hands on the franchise.

The scum fighter is the only ship in this wave that fits its base.

It's like a theme or something.

Also, the size of the base isn't just related to the the size of the ship. Its also used as a means of countering the stats/abilities of that ship. As good as the Aggressors dial, abilities, actions are, a small base as well would make it OP. With a large base, you're really thinking about those S-loops and K-turns more carefully. The large base acts as a bit of a buff to it. While the K and Punisher models do seem pretty big, as long as their abilities/dial/actions fall in line with small base movements or don't require aforementioned buff, it should be fine.
