Are painted bases allowed in tournament play? Or frowned upon in any situation? I've had trouble with some ships staying on their stands and thought about painting some up to try and fix the issue. Trying to avoid having stands I can't use.
Painted Bases
From what I've heard it shouldn't be an issue, just ask your TO ahead of time, and in case there are complaints, bring normal stands to swap out.
Also a trick you can use is to coat the pegs that insert to the posts and the ship, with a thin coat of elmers glue, should be enough to stop the wiggle and bad fit issues.. just let it dry for 12 hours or so and should be fine.
As long as you do nothing to alter the size and shape of the base you should be perfectly alright.
Cool. Thanks for the replies.

I used my painted bases at Worlds without any issues from opponents and judges alike.

If you watch the replay of the final, you will notice that Morgan also had painted (and weighted) bases.
