campaign missions squad building

By bevocative, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Quick question: The tantive IV campaign mission setup, mission t3a for this example, says "CR90, Wedge Antilles (proton Torpedoes, R2 Astromech), 100 squad points, the rebel player cannot field any other unique Ship or Upgrade cards." Emphasis theirs underline mine.

My question is in regards to the underlined statement. I translate this as two ways and was wondering which way it was supposed to be.

Translation one: 100 points for ships and upgrade cards as long as they are not "unique" cards.

Translation two: 100 points for ships that are not unique and no upgrade cards allowed.

I believe it to be the former what do you say?

Translation one is correct, 100 points for ships and upgrades, and none can be unique.

Yeah, good luck trying to get to exactly 100 points on non-unique ships alone. It most definitely includes Upgrade cards, just not unique ones.

How does the game define 'unique' upgrade cards?

Does it mean only no 'named' upgrade cards; i.e. Luke Skywalker, etc.?

Or is there another definition?

Unique cards have a bullet before their name. Examine Squad Leader vs Push the Limit

Can you tell me where it says that in the rules? Can,'t seem to find it. Or is it posted online - tourny rules?

Page 18, top of the second column. The Unique Names rule also extends to more than just pilots. It also covers named crew that are unique, so you can't have a Luke flying his X-wing and being a crew member of the Falcon in the same game, as it's the same unique name regardless of card type.

This game box includes several famous pilots and

astromechs from the Star Wars universe. Each of
these famous characters is represented by a card
with a unique name, which is identified by the bullet
(•) to the left of the name.
A player cannot field two or more cards that share the
same unique name.
