Going back in time

By Segmentvs, in X-Wing

Have any of you gone back to read all the news releases from 2012 and 2013 recently?

I started buying this game in March 2013 after Wave 2 was already released. I don't think I started frequenting the FFG site until Wave 3 stuff was in the works, so I didn't read any of the original release or Wave 2 stuff.

I just went back and read all the News posts except for the guest stuff.

Since I don't get to play at all, and my last game was months ago, I found the content to be very illuminating. I like how they were discussing potential combos and lists right away. It really shows that FFG has been forward thinking since the inception of the game.

I am quite excited for S&V and the Raider/Tie Advanced, and can't wait to see what will come next.

I can see how it might be entertaining to go back into this forum and see who was pontificating what in those times past. Given that the debate sometimes gets heated, and strong positions are made, it might be funny to see who was what degree of wrong.

I have seen some resurrected forum posts and those can be amusing.

It'll probably get better the more you get to know the posting community.

I started the game during wave 3. Had seen it on the shelves at my FLGS long before that, but just never could afford it. I never thought to go back and read the old articles. May have to do that some time

I found it worthwhile. I found it interesting to see that they announced it in the summer of 2011 and didn't post again until 2012.

Oh boy, i remember that i was saying all the time that Howlrunner and Tie Fighters in general were overpowered. There i was right. Man i hated those Swarms, but on tournaments i felt compelled to play them because they were just too good not to be played.

I was also demanding a fix for the Y-Wing and wanted a new turret for it, which we got in the end. The Blaster turret came out very close to what i had proposed. All the imperial naysayers of course where whining about more turrets already back then .

Then i thought that the Z-95 would be a lot weaker than the Tie Fighter, which is probably pretty wrong. It just hasn't got Howlrunner sadly!

It seems i was often right, but wrong at least as often...
