Roleplaying Failed Force Checks

By jedipaladin, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I just started this to get tips and just have people share ideas about failed force checks mainly how to roleplay or explain to players why it did not work

Sorry for complete lack of punctuation.

I'd just borrow from Empire when Luke 'fails' with the Xwing. There is some effect just not as much, or precisely what they wanted, so something more than just ***fizzle-pop*** when they use their power.

What 2p said pretty much.

or you could say they just couldn't concentrate enough due to the situation. Blaster bolts are distracting.

Pretty much watch anything Anakin/Ahsoka do in Clone wars and that is force check fails. =)

All kidding aside just think about what someone is trying to do and make a super minor version.

Fail a force jump (is there a check for that? not sure none of my force users use that) instead of leaping far or high, you sort of hop about a foot and fall on your face?

Ever watch Smallville (or any superman) when Clark is around Kryptonite? same thing for a failed force check.

Maybe for a Foresee check, they get a really blurry vision or the barest scrap of information, or perhaps something that is irrelevant to the story.

It would depend on what the failure is. Not rolling the kind of pips you need or enough could result in you doing something lesser or nothing at all. Rolling the force pips but failing a discipline check could basically be you shove someone but don't really move them.

Thanks for the ideas.
