Full Auto vs. Semi Auto

By Massaker, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Ok, I know this question must have come up several times by now, but I couldn't find it ad hoc.

So how do you handle this. I am aware that there are clarifications in the Errata, but in my oppinion the RAW renders weapons capable of only semi-auto fire nearly useless.

In additon, as anyone can confirm who ever fired a weapon on Fullauto, you are lucky to hit anyone target with more than two bullets in that mode. On the other hand you are much more likely to hit several times when "semiauto" firing.

In my game I want to keep the to-hit-modiefiers (+10 for semi, +20 for full because it is more likely to hit anything) but change but switch the condition for further hits (additional hits semi: 1 per level of success; full: 2 per level of success, less likely to hit unerringly).

What do you think.

Sorry again for not having the patience for searching for the old thread.

Actually, i think that's a pretty damned good idea. A simple elegant way of bringing the weapons in a bit closer to real world physics (if that's your thing). I would be tempted to try this out, but the scum player might toss me out the window... he dose so love his auto pistols.

Yeah a very nice idea.

Then semi auto has less bonus and caps # of hits (2-3) earlier (hits at +10, 0 and perhaps -10).

And full auto can potentially achieve more (hits at +20, +0, -20, ... hits easier... and likely more hits at point blank or decent BS) and has Overwatch and Suppressing Fire. To make full auto not a waste of bullets in too many situations, perhaps also restrict the ability to hits multiple targets (the 2m away part) to full auto as it better represents a spray of bullets over an area. Would also bring it more in line with Overwatch and Suppressing Fire (as "area effects") being only available on full auto.

I house rule that opening up on Full-Auto at two or more characters in Melee spreads the hits evenly between all characters while Semi-Auto allows a player to focus on one target in Melee. This didn't always help but it gave SA a point and purpose.

Use a simular system, after the first attempt they stopped firing full auto into melee or suffer the assassins wrath (fellow pc), they fear her enough to don't...she'll prolly surive...or simply dodge... (60% chance or so).

On the extra hits per degree I would keep it as it is since gathering bonusses is very easy...
