VT-49 list Help

By MedicFett, in X-Wing

so this is what i have so far, i like the idea of getting close and messing up the plans of the other player! With this being said here is the frist list i was thinking, only promblem is that i am puting a lot of upgrades on the VT-49, but i do have the Ties to take a punch and give it too!

Captain Oicunn (42)

Ruthlessness (3)

Mara Jade (3)

Rebel Captive (3)

Proton Bombs (5)

Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)

"Howlrunner" (18)
Swarm Tactics (2)

Total: 100

List building for the Decimator is one of the hardest parts of the game right now. I like tournamwnt overall but would probably trade the proton bombs out for gunner on the Decimator. Tha way if your attack is generally always going to do damage.

OK i can see that and it adds a better offence

thanks

If you intend on trying to ram Dauntless is good.

It's good for two reasons. 1 if you accidentally fly into your own ships you can still get an action and 2 if you succeed in ramming getting that action can make a world of difference

Putting in gunner will probably serve you better its worth ensuring the decimator hits.

I agree about the Dauntless title. If you are taking Oicunn, Dauntless seems like a must have card so that you can still take an action on rounds that you use his ability.

I'm not sure that I'd take Ruthless with all of those TIE fighters on the board. Outside of the first pass you are just as likely to have TIEs within range one of your target as you are an enemy ship. At least the way that I fly APs they tend to get into the mix and try to block and get up close for the extra damage at range one.

Well if your going to use gunner I suggest using predator with it.

That way if you lose an action you can still reroll dice.

I've seen gunner roll crap without anyway to modify.

Or pair it with Dauntless.

I'm not a huge fan of gunner just on its own

as the Ram is ps4, proton bombs are a sizable risk.

I tend to have a hard time fielding a decimator without isard.

Omg no. Take gunner instead of the proton bomb. You won't regret it and you will do way more damage

I kinda like the swarm tactics too. It's pretty good for pumping up oicunn.

The other good option is to take the 8 extra points from swarm and howl runner and make them into two black squadrons with draw their fire. And two point initiative bid is crazy good! You can use your single AP to block and muck up mini swarm phantom and full tie swarm. Pretty amazing.

Also two black sq DTF is really really really good. Your survivability goes up nearly another 4 hull.

I flew the Decimator in the TC Open and did well (top 32, lost to Dom), and I'm not sure Dauntless on Oicunn works very well. The Decimator only has a few green moves and it makes the choice difficult: do you go for the ram again and forgo your action (rarely do you hit multiple ships, so a focus for an attack is nice) or move predictably, giving your opponent the upper hand?

I often found myself not wanting the stress so I could move where I wanted next turn, and still not worry about giving up my action.

If you take Dauntless, I feel Predator is a must. Alternatively, it would be great to have a Wingman.

Captain Oicunn — VT-49 Decimator 42 Predator 3 Gunner 5 Mara Jade 3 Rebel Captive 3 Dauntless 2 Academy Pilot — TIE Fighter 12 Academy Pilot — TIE Fighter 12 "Howlrunner" — TIE Fighter 18

i have listen and i think this is the consensus

Not to throw a wrench into all this, but ysanne Isard could also be a big help and I might even replace gunner with her. If your ramming it might not matter because you'll go down pretty fast and gunner will guarantee you damage while you go but if you're trying to stay outside then slash for damage it could help.

If your Decimator costs more than 43 points (that is a patrol leader + Vader) the first thing you want is Ysanne Isard. The only way to kill a Decimator is to beat it down. After you lose your shields an one hull (note you still have 11 hull left to go through) you get a free evade every turn. Since Homing missiles aren't really much of a thing that is basically an extra HP per turn it takes your opponent to kill you. It is like the Falcon Title Upgrade only better since it doesn't cost you an action.

After that I think the next two upgrades as Mara Jade and Rebel Captive. Rebel Captive will be stressing your opponents best pilot every turn, and Mara Jade gets most of the rest. Mara Jade also makes it almost impossible to K-turn behind a Decimator.

(But you have both of these on your list so I won't discuss them further)

Next you need to decide on what Decimator Pilot you want. I love the Rear Admiral. He basically get's a free marskmanship light every time he shoots. With him I find I really don't need a gunner (which I don't have a slot for) since I can take TL as my action and pretty much hit almost everything I shoot at. the Rear Admiral also excells in high stress games. I found myself in a shoot out between two Decimators both with rebel captives. We were also flying through a lot of debris. Needless to say we didn't get to take a lot of actions. This can really be used to your advantage since you can choose to put down debis instead of asteroids durring deployment, garanteeing at least 3 of the obsticals are what you want them to be.

Captain Oicun sounds tempting, but if you bump someone you can't shoot at them. I prefer not to lose my shots when the Decimator only gets one.

Finally you have to decide what EPT to take. There are lots of great choices. If you really want to go with the no action killer give the Rear Admiral Preditor, now he gets a re-roll and focus-crit change. But I don't car for this since most times I do get an action and then one of the abilites is wasted.

Ruthless was my fist choice, but it can bite you back.

Lone Wolf is popular, but it encouriges you to fly away from your buddies. I like flying with my buddies.

My favorite is actually Determination. It is cheap, only 1 point. And it protects you from about 1/4 of all crits. If decimators have a weakness it is crits.

PS If you want to beat a Decimator, fly Et'han.
