Moldy Crow Scum

By Gundog8324, in X-Wing

So looking at Fab's Squadron Builder today for Scum stuff, I noticed that the Moldy Crow title isn't faction specific (I am aware it may be Errata'd but for now let us assume it will be legal) so it looks like we can have one of the new HWKs be a Moldy Crow.

I am thinking

Palob(HWK, can steal focus/evades from enemies)-Blaster Turret, Recon Spec, Moldy Crow

Leeachos (Z-95, Steals focus/evades from Friendlies)-Bodyguard

Serissu(Scyk, friendlies reroll 1 defense die)-Heavy Scyk, Mangler Cannon, Stealth Devive

Torkil-(HWK, Makes 1 enemy shoot at PS0)-Ion Turret

Basically, Palob is the focus battery and functions like Kyle Katarn and feeds tokens to Leeachos who can use them to fund Bodyguard for Serissu who will be rocking 5 Evade dice (not counting obstacle/R3 bonuses) and everyone else gets Serissu's reroll

Torkil is just there because I would rather have a HWK to benefit from Serissu's reroll over a Y-wing with an Ion or a couple Z-95s or another Scyk

Great synergy, but may lack a 'punch' as far as damage goes, and depends on the squad being close, which is hard after the initial pass.

Fluff note: Palob owned the Crow before Katarn did, there's little reason to errata it to Rebel-only.

This. People are way too hung up on binary thinking. Rebel scum is scum none-the-less, the only difference is the color of the dial.

But the scummy scum, are too scummy for the rebel scum (and yet they work with the forces of law and order in the movies).

That's the thing I really can't think of a good way too take advantage of the focus stacking because there is no good way to pass it besides to Leeachos, unless I put bodyguard directly on Palob and then just plug him into a different squad, or replace the recon spec with a K4, and then just bank focus at 1 per turn

If they make Crow Rebel Only, then they'll make the Andrasta Scum-Only, and that makes the good-guys sad.

There are 3 pilots that can use bodyguard with maximum effect (lowest PS pilots with EPT): Mandalorian mercenary, Palob Godalhi and Kaa'To Leeachos. All of them PS 5 and all of them can have 2+ focus tokens per turn. Palob and Kaa'To steal it from enemies/friends, Mandalorian mercenary can take recspec. Palob can have a recspec also, and Moldy Crow title allows him to store this waste pile of focus tokens. Mandalorian mercenary has better toughness.

So Kaa'To Leeachos is weakest and there are no need to have him as mediator between Palob and target.

This one interesting bodyguard for Serissu:

Mandalorian Mercenary — Firespray-31 35

Bodyguard 2

Recon Specialist 3

Tactical Jammer 1

You left out Guri, but she would be fairly tricky because I don't know if you necessarily want a StarViper at Range 1 of an enemy (and you lose PTL on her)

AdvSens Guri's not terrible at arc-dodging into r1 even with the middling PS, though the lack of PTL's definitely a pain.

Mmmm....moldy scum...
