Alright, FFG, how about a new flight path game for us?

By KILODEN, in X-Wing

while you are sitting there saying, no, absolutely not, no game to compete with this one.

I say to you Munchkin-ize this game.

make it so ridiculous its fun. goofy looking ships and abilities to make us laugh and cry when they destroy us.

no one would be arguing, that ship is OP, because its not supposed to be balanced its supposed to be funny.

you could have a card "Black Hole" pick an enemy ship, its gone.

man, the possibilities would be endless and endlessly funny. please oh please make something like this or I will have too.

have a card change the physics of the game, like target ship must fly all maneuvers backwards.

oh man this game just wrights itself.

what do you guys think. obviously this would never have a tournament game, but a good friendly laugh between frenemies.

I have a hard time seeing such a game fitting with the current marketing approach. A board game or a card game, maybe, but not an x-wing style game where you have to buy each ship.

I think the Flight Path System would work for a WWI or WWII Naval combat game.

Well it was originally designed for a WWI (or WWII?) Dogfighting game.

I do like the idea of a flightpath game that isn't tied to a licensing property, I think that would allow for a lot more design freedom than something that needs to fit the themes of the empire & rebellion era. A single box with a variety of ships and upgrades, maybe no factions either, something more casual "beer & pretzils" than tournament gaming. Oddball mechanics would work well for that, with pilot & upgrade abilities more akin to something out of Super Mario Cart or Gamma World.

no, it comes with 4 ships that all look different but have the same stats,

the cards you draw and play will modify it.

"There's no such thing as a stock freighter son."

you got it radarman

I like the idea of a navel combat game, maybe with firing arcs out the sides, lining up broadsides

I like the game the way it is. Maybe just more new ships - and some reprints of the old ones!

I think a naval game would be great. Destroyed ships stay on the board as sinking wrecks! Maybe you if you have an available Crew slot open, you can save Crew from destroyed ships.

Would be pretty cool to have a warship game.

Sails of glory iswhat you're looking for.

A Flight Path Battlestar Galactica game would RULE!!! They already have the license! I am totally on board, although I am not so sure they have a wide enough ship base in the fluff to draw from as they do from the Star Wars universe.

I also wouldn't mind seeing something of their own creation...some new Sci-Fi universe with several Alien factions to chose from.

G.I. Joe?

Transformers?

Robotech/macross?

Pathfinder!

what? Wizkids has star trek and D&D, FFG should have star wars and pathfinder

And the guys who now own the world war dogfighting game have adapted the system to napoleonic naval combat.

This would be such a limited game though... not a lot of ships there.. fighter ships that is.. it would be done in a couple of months.. sure we get to play it, but what could they do.. new viper packs with new upgrades.. maybe.. or a one off boxed set with a dozen or so vipers and cylons and all you need to play in one box.. maybe put out an expansion every few months with some new fluff.. bout it really

I, personally, would love for them to be developing a flight path star fighter game in the twilight imperium universe. Unfortunately, such a game would be direct competition with x-wing, so won't happen while they are still doing x-wing.

A car wars style armed racing game would work pretty well though. Different enough to not compete with their other games, lots of room for expansions and with Steve Jackson games working on a new version of car wars the genre is likely to get a big boost in popularity. They could even come out with track expansions like formula de used to.

Mag Blast is a card game, I want to see the goofy looking ships in miniature format.

think it would be funny as hell, well I guess im off to shapeways to see what I can do.

Hel-Nah... FFG you just keep on working on glorious STAR WARS and also keep on ignoring these irrational fan-want topics dat pop up every once in a while.

:lol::huh::angry:

X-wing's too expensive for a joke game. lol-Wing would get old very fast. Certainly not something you'd sink over a hundred regional currency equivalents into.

Armored Core pls

Just... take all of my money. I'm not even using it.

+1 for Robotech. Set two dials each turn. One for movement in the direction you're facing. One for adjusting the rotation of your torso/firing direction. Would excellent spatial awareness to make a good player. I want this game really, really bad.

ObiWonka,

have you not heard of robotech tactics?

it just released

I got in on the kickstarter and have a butt load of miniatures with more coming.

That would be awesome. And the sneak peak Phil (?) released suggests they might be going this path.
