Desert Islands DVDs....

By Gadge, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Ok, you're marooned on an island.

You've got shelter, tons of food reserves, a generator and tons of petrol a dvd player and a hooked up big screen.

Problem is nowone can rescue you for at least five years.

You've got five DVDs you can take with you....

what are they?

me:

Star wars EPV

Apocalypse Now

Kind Hearts and Coronets

Spinal Tap

Bladerunner.

Castaway

Blue lagune

Giligan's Island

Deep blue sea

Swiss family Robbinson

Ha ha! Just kidding!

I'll post a proper list when I've decided wich ones i'm going to take.

Conan the barbarian and Halloween have already made the shortlist.

You see i went for a film for every mood.

Some really long ones like apocalypse now, action in star wars, depth in bladerunner etc

I'm gonna pick something from the three big groups: Fantasy, horror and science fiction.

I might throw in Bram Stokers dracula. 1. becuz i like it and 2. It has that scene with Harker and dracula's brides in it and if i'm stuck for 5 years on a deserted island i'm gonna need something to fap to. :)

You see i can see 'adult' cinema being a desirable option but given the nature of the forum you're going to have to list it as 'a film for adults i cant post here' or choose something with a cinematic release with fappable material

Michelle Pfeiffer in batman II springs to mind :)

yeah I know i'm not gonna list a bunch of XXX titles here! Don't worry. :)

Altough some normal movies have some pretty porny titels.

"Black snake moan" for example. With that title how's that not a porno?

.

Empire Strikes Back

13th Warrior

Dances with Wolves

His Girl Friday (Cary Grant)

The Blue Brothers

  1. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
  2. Groundhog's Day
  3. Ghostbusters
  4. Tommy Boy
  5. Happy Gilmore

I seem to have a SNL theme going on here.

Empire Strikes Back

The Thing

Fargo

The Shining

Gremlins

... Cookie for anyone who can guess why! ;)

Well done LordCole! The whole 'desert island' scenario fills me with dread whenever it gets mentioned. I can't imagine anything worse than all that heat and humidity. The sweat, the sunburn, the cracked lips! Yuck!

Therefore my films would all remind me of cooler times and climes! :D

Star Wars

The Matrix

The Avengers

The Godfather

The Big Lebowski

ROTJ

the thing

Halloween

Conan the barbarian

Bram stokers dracula

Black Hawk Down

Platoon

The Matrix

Aliens (the 2nd one)

and the last one is a toss up between Good Morning Vietnam or Terminator

No Hamburger hill?

Well, it's in my collection but only five dvds... hard call. Actually I'd probably put "We Were Soldiers Once" in there instead. Always liked a true dramatisation.

Can't I burn my own dvd with lesser quality mpg's to take more? :P

Lion in Winter, the old version with Hepburn and O'Toole, wonderful dialogue, superb acting.

E.T. whenever you need a pick-me-up.

Amélie, for when E.T. just isn't enough. Maybe Un Long Dimanche de Fiançelles instead.

Empire Strikes Back, action, adventure, a human sometimes craves these things

And now the final choice, that's a toughie. Do you take a musical, so you have music to sing? Maybe a concert-dvd? Not a Shakespeare movie, I would take my version of his collected works along so I can act those out myself if bored. I'm leaning towards:

Gladiator, large, luscious, lavish.

I'd love to take Blade Runner but that might ultimately be too depressing. :P

Acting out shakesphere should keep you sane. or not.

"Once more onto the beach- err into the breach, i mean."

Maybe i gotta watch Blade runner again, because i didn't find it to depressing. (Unless you have an alternate edit in wich Batty drops Decard ;) )

Well, not normally, no. But if you're stuck on an island I'm not sure I'd want to watch a movie repeatedly that ends on the line "She won't live you know. But then again, who does?"

:P

On the other hand, that scene. That one scene. Best deathscene ever.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

Hot Fuzz

Johnny English

Johnny English Reborn

Three Amigos

For the simple reason that they're funny enough for me to enjoy repeatedly. Alone on a desert island, I need to keep my spirits up and nothing feeds my happy than a good laugh.

Star Wars: A New Hope (original)

Aliens

Guardians Of The Galaxy

Dredd

Chronicles Of Riddick

Alone on a desert island, I think I'd need more than just a dvd player.

Alone for five years I'd need to keep a positive mental attitude and for that I'd need funny movies. So I'd have to leave my most favourite movies behind. Plus, it would have to be funny movies that won't lose their hilarity or become annoying. So here goes:

Furry Vengeance

Red

Red 2

Johnny English

Johnny English Reborn

Is Deadpool out on DVD yet? Then I might really only need one DVD. :D

Conan the Barbarian

El Dorado

Master and Comander

Cat on a hot tin roof

Malena
