Mono-Spirit

By Olorin93, in Strategy and deck-building

To get into the Christmas spirit, I've been thinking about making a mono-Spirit holiday deck.

What is your best deck with 3 spirit heroes? I don't mind Glorfindel, but Galadriel and Idraen are more interesting. With the new cycle out, there are some great Spirit cards. I've just realised Shadows Give Way from The Antlered Crown can be played multiple times with Map of EƤrnil - definitely a help. Also, everyone loves threat reduction and effect cancellation.

Merry Christmas, by the way!

Merry Christmas!

I don't have a particular deck in mind that is mono-spirit, but I have been playing a deck with Spirfindel, Idraen, and Beregond, and it's been doing very well. I have another deck to go with it (Haldir, Imrahil, and Celeborn) that adds in Asfaloth and makes use of some pretty awesome Silvan mechanics. Basically: Idraen has been a powerhouse in the deck, and I think I'm going to use her much more often in the future, especially with the Lost Realm coming soon that will bolster the Dunedain.

I like Idraen too! I'll definitely consider pairing her with Spirfindel and one more hero for some kind of Arnor/ranger deck. Beregond is always good, of course.

EDIT: And I'm also really excited for The Lost Realm, more so than the Ringmaker cycle - not overly fond of the bouncy mechanics, though we've seen some very good heroes.

Just realised Mablung might be a good ranger option if you want Tactics access.

Mono-spirit could be quite viable for all areas of the game, now. Glorfindel-Idraen-Frodo gives you strong questing, defense, and attack capabilities, with some built-in or easy access to action advantage for those heroes. You could take Glorfindel out but you lose the combined might of Glorfindel+Idraen (6 attack), and true mono-spirit is lacking in good ways to scare up some attack power. So without Glorry you might find enemies a bit more troublesome.
