Tomorrow I'll be using my transport for the first time in my first epic game with my bro Chris.

How do you guys use your transports?

To start off what's the best way to use them in game?

Are there any particular fighters that go well with them? I was thinking of using all 4 of my X-Wings using named pilots as in my mind that's how it should be!

Have slicer tools (they come with the transport not the corvette yeah?) and use 'jam' action to stress enemy ships a lot, its quite useful.

The treadwell repair droid is an auto include for me but make sure you take tibanna gas.

The look on your opponents face when you go from 1 hull left to 'good condisiton' by making a 1 move and burning off gas to allow you to fix about 6 or more damage is worth it!

Your opponent might well go after your big fat target so i'd use fast and nippy escorts that can hit him before he gets too close en mass. It will go down pretty quickly even to academy ties if enough get close.

Combat retrofit is good if you can afford the points as it tanks it up a bit.

In the main though either decide to use it to disrupt the enemy with slicer and jamming or keep it close and tanked up and pass out those free actions to people who can use them most.

As its got no real guns of its own you need to make sure you're taking a lot of red dice in the escort

What point value are you playing?

If you can afford the corran and ethan could be a lethal combo given you can hand out the actions to be locking and evading corran each turn?

We're playing 300 points, I know Chris will be using a Decimator, 3 Defenders, Fel and then TIE's.

I'm thinking E's and X's with the transport playing interference.

I think the Xs give you a solid all rounder base and the ewings can intercept. You might want to think of some way of stopping him putting HLCs on the defenders and shredding a low agilty huge ship quickly at range

The treadwell will be essential here i think.

I'd be tempted to put prockets on the E wings, add munitions failsafe (if you have those cards) and perhaps go in for a quick kill on the decimator. You could get in there with 10 red dice in your alpha strike and with corran roll another 4 after!

I found the 'jam' action great against phantoms as it stops ACD working if you stress them but luckily you dont have to worry about that!

Fel could be worth jamming though, hes bound to put PTL on him and not being able to do actions will really restrict him, sure hes got a lot of green on his dial but he cant afford to take that second stress really

Are you going to put any back story in?

I find even if its something as simple as 'this is a vital convoy of rebel supplies that has to make it off the far end of the board before being destroyed' it can make it a truly epic game , of course you need to play on more than a 3x3 mat or it might be a bit too easy. Also a victory condition like that makes your mate, if hes any sense, ignore everything and hammer the transport.

Might be worth playing twice. Once as a straight fight, once as a 'scenario'

No sense in overloading your transport. If you make it too useful, it'll be focused down. Make sure you bring lethal, juicier targets so that the transport is completely ignored. If it isn't, then enjoy your beefier, pseudo Biggs transport.

Pilot skill is huge in epic mode, I've used Roark + Keyan with swarm, Nera with swarm, both with HLC. They were always close in range to 2x blue with HLC. Therefore, you either hit with 3x HLC b-wings at ps12 and 1 at ps2, or 2x at ps12 and 2x at 7. This can wipe off a lot of kinds of ships before they ever fire a shot.
