outer rim smuggler

By thebigeb2589, in X-Wing

So I've been playing now for about 8 months. I've played a lot of different people and have spent more hours reading and list building then playing. Now I know what I'm about to say will make most people cringe but.... I really love the outer rim smuggler. 27 points for ten health and a turreted primary is just gold in my opinion. Plus when you get comfy enough you get a three dice attack at range one. I like him so much I've even worked out a solid list that is winning for me right now that I plan on using in a tourney in the new year. So all that was said to ask this, in light of the tourney I'm looking to add some teeth to the ORS but with no EPT or secondary weapon slot what's a guy to do aside from an APL modification? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Current list 100 points

=========================

YT-1300: Outer Rim Smuggler (27 + 2)

+ Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

YT-1300: Outer Rim Smuggler (27 + 2)

B-wing: Keyan Farlander (29 + 13)

+ Predator (3)

+ Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

+ Advanced Sensors (3)

I was toying with a similar idea. I run Keyan with VI instead and an ion cannon. Alevel 9 Keyan is hard to pin down. That gives you points to put a tactician on each ORS. 2 points left over, Jan Ors for an evade, Dash if you want to land on rocks and shoot, theres quite a few 2 point crews that you could use. Saboteur? Or swap the ion for an engine upgrade, 1 bank and a 2k or 1 turn on Keyan is a sweet move.

Hope this gives you some ideas. I don't know what models you have, or cards. swapping one of the ORS for Eadon Vrill might be an idea as well. Unfortunately, to put more sting in the Smugglers, you have to take some out of Keyan.

You know, I started with a similar idea and ended up with Keyan and Lando.

Keyan, VI, HLC, AS, and EU. Lando, PtL, Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors and Counter Measures. It takes practice, but I can most of the time get the extra action for Keyan now.

I still love SableGryphon's BlockORS fleet.

That's 3 ORS with Navigators, Intel Agents, and Anti-Pursuits, for 33 points a-piece.

Primary win-condition is massed-blocking.

You get actions, they don't

You get your full movement, they don't.

You get no damage from the collision, they do.

You get to fire at their paralyzed ships with your fellows: They're unlikely to.

You have 30 whopping HP. They're unlikely to.

Also, with 3 large-base blockers, you've got a pretty good chance of blocking Whisper consistently, and let the APL ignore its Agility dice.

I like to call that one "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People".

Thanks for that I'll do some tinkering, my list of ships is in my signature. The one x and two tie are from the core set

I like this idea a lot. Kinda low ball but tournaments are for winning so...

Still a great 1-off as a control element. Could even swap out APL for Tactical Jammer if you're running Biggs...

Outer Rim Smuggler
Outer Rim Smiggler
Wild Space Fringer + Outrider + HLC

96 points... you've enough for dual tacticians - or an engine upgrade, or chewie, or triple tactical jammers and an intel agent... Recon specialist and nien nunb.... Sooo many possibilities...
