I want to talk about the Slave Circuit vehicle attachment from Stay on Target. It costs 10,000 credits and a hard point to do what I thought could already be done with the 300 credit controller from Suns of Fortune. However, when reviewing the DVI controller from Suns of Fortune, it seems that it only acts as the handheld remote control and it interfaces with a slave circuit, meaning it's useless without installing the Slave Circuit attachment to the craft you want to control. Is that correct?
Slaving ships (no, not like that!)
I believe so
I am surprised. From the novels in Black Fleet crisis, I assumed being able to slave a ship was something that normally could be done with ANY ship.. you just needed to give permission
I seem to recall that in the Zhan books where Slave Circuits were first introduced, it was specifically that ships had to be specially rigged for them and it fell out of favor (or turned into a big deal) when the Katana fleet went missing.
just did a quick search on Wookiepedia and saw this snippet. Which is similar to how I have it in my universe.
For a vehicle that wasn't slave-rigged, the owner, with a computer and a little programming skill, could set up a temporary slave circuit.
Tho I would also assume that you were going to slave a ship to yours, as the "Master" ship you would need a dedicated slave circuit, especially for hyperjumps or microjumps

I have assumed that minor slaving, such as enabling the Millennium Falcon's turrets to be fired from the cockpit, are not the same as have a ship fully outfitted with a Slave Circuit.

Same with accepting jump coordinates and time from an outside system. The internal navcomp and hyperdrive still does all the work of the jump, but you're accepting data from another system for the upcoming jump.
I'd expect that doing more than a few coordinated jumps would need the full slave circuit. ![]()
