So 200pts to play with, around 140ish gone on the Tantive, leaving 60pts.
What would you field?
Best I can do is 3x A-wings

Get LT Blount in there with six Z's and plenty of missiles. Y-Wings and B-Wings are great as escorts too.
That'll get them TIE's off your ass when it counts.

What's on your Tantive build? We might be able to shave you some points.
Also remember that in Team epic, BOTH players on a team get a 200 point list.
This is my first play with putting 200pts together, focusing on the Tantive. My team mate is still messing about with points too. Not sure what he'll go with yet. Not playing the epic game until the second week of January, so we all have lots of time to mess about with ships.
Totally expecting the opposition to field a stupid number of smaller ships, with maybe the Decimator in support.

I would highly recommend streamlining your 'vette.
I build mine with Sensor Team, Han Solo, the hardpoint guns, and the Wed-15 droid. Only.
As far as how I play it, I try to run it up the middle of the field, forcing my enemy into one side or the other.
If they're on my flanks, then my guns work better. More to the point, I have split their forces, and mine and my partners' combined force can pick off one side, then the other.

Jan works better. You can donate a die to the corvette - you can't donate a focus token to it.
Edit: Never mind. Being silly and confusing myself. Roark, not Kyle!.
Roark is pretty awesome paired with the CR-90, yeah.
Edited by IntroverdantWow, thats very minimal!
My thinking was that we would be seriously out numbered & that every shot needed to count for as much damage as possible. Peg the Decimator at long range with the Turbolasers (double agility...oh so sorry!), hopefully target locked & fry smaller craft as they get in closer.
Also assisting, where possible, to maximise my allies defending craft hit rate (Title card doubling free actions given out), whilst being able to prop shields back up where needed (Engineering + Back up Gen) & repair damage (Repair droid) when the inevitable damage slips through.
I'm thinking it's going to cop a lot of fire power & really needs to dish enough out early on to thin the hordes somewhat. having said that I've only flown it once before in the first campaign mission that it comes with.
Comparing the two builds there is only really 20pts difference, which doesn't buy a lot. Is another cheap ship worth the trade off?

No Tibanna gas supplies? How much of a shortage on energy do you face? If you fill all the hard points, you'll use a lot of energy. Han crew sounds good, but I've not tried him out yet.
As to the original post, I think Etahn A'baht could be wildly helpful in epic. If the opposing ships have shields, then hopefully the CR-90 can take them down a bit, and then it's crit city. And if you're up against your average TIEs and interceptors, then your squad will have a field day! I'd put Sensor Jammer on him to keep him alive, and maybe R2-D2, but that gets expensive in a hurry.
Don't overload your CR-90 too much. You will find that you have a lot of cool things you can do, but lack the energy to do them.
Also, when facing superior numbers that consist of swarms of fighters, Assault Missiles are your friend. Pick out some low Agility ships and watch the splash damage pile up.
I struggle to justify the cost of an E-Wing when there is the potential of sooooo many ships shooting back.
Those three defense dice are not going to save him for long.
Same with the hawk. **** thing is such a big target & so prone to disintegrating at a moments notice. Shooting first with the CR90 is very appealing though...
...I guess I could swap out a cargo slot with the EM Emitter & hide behind the bigger ship...but is that worth the trade off for the Gas? Or the Shield Gen?
Would also mean targets the HWK-290 fired on through the CR90 would add extra dice in defence?
Here's an idea. Instead of trying to make your CR-90 ready for all eventualities, what if you pick a role, add a few upgrades, then choose some ships to cover for it. Sounds to me like that is what DraconPyrothayan is doing with his build. He knows the corvette is going to get targeted early, so he doesn't worry about keeping the energy flowing. Rather, he focuses on making shots count, and flying to disrupt his opponents' squads.
Rather than gunning up the middle, maybe you want it to be a range 5 sniper. In that case, ion cannons may help to keep enemy ships at bay while your CR-90 unleashes it's firepower upon them. With such sustained firing, Tibanna Gas Supplies or Engineering Team may work well, and you could skip out on the quad lasers, instead relying on the escorts for covering fire. Sensor Team and Gunnery Team would also fit well here, so you'll still have some tough choices.
It's been a while since I've looked at all the upgrade cards, so I'm drawing a blank about other possibilities. But I'll look at them again because I am keen on playing more Epic matches!

I'd move the engineering team aft.
A crippled aft section is limited to one energy. The engineering team no longer does anything. So you might as well discard it. The gunnery team in the fore section might still spend that one point of energy.
If you are short on points, a gunnery team is optional. Sensor and engineering teams are important.
Edit:
If the fore section is crippled you really want the engineering team in the aft.
Edited by dvorI've had success running weapon engineer and dodonna's pride on the CR-90 paired with Dutch. Dutch moves and focuses. CR-90 moves after all non-epic ships, coordinates Dutch and one other escort, Dutch TLs off of coordinate, allowing CR-90 to acquire 2 TLs thanks to weapon engineer.
31pts
Dutch w/ wingman, R2-D6 & ion turret
31pts
Biggs w/ R2-F2 & experimental interface
11pts
Dodonna's Pride, sensor team & weapon engineer on CR-90
127pts left over to kit out the corvette

I agree with this. Think in terms of how much damage the Corvette can do, and how much it can take for the points you're spending on it. Also how much energy it generates each turn compared to how much you can potentially spend. I would personally NEVER spend over 120 on a CR-90 if I could help it.
My build:
CR-90 (fore) Single Turbolaser, Han Solo, Sensor Team
CR-90 (aft) Single Turbolaser, Weapons Engineer, Engineering Team
That's 119 points, and offensively gives you what you need. The Weapons Engineer doubles your Target Locks, Sensor Team lets you acquire them from further out, Han lets you use them as focus tokens, and the Engineering Team helps with Energy generation.
I'd run it along my baseline, get a fighter screen in front of it ASAP to block the enemy's approach and plink away at targets from long range. The last thing you want is to be approached on both flanks.
What to field with it? Roark Garnet. Plus as many CHEAP support ships as possible, as 119 points will buy the Imperial player a strong numerical advantage. Generic Z-95's, A-Wings, Y-Wings, X-Wings or B-Wings - stay away from other high-priced ships as much as possible (with Etahn A'Baht a possible exception.)

The one time I've had the opportunity to play Epic, I had E'tahn out there, and also had Jan Dodonna on the corvette. There were a LOT of face-up damage cards on the other side of the table.

In the current rules, your ship starts with full energy.
Most of the combat I've encountered has been at range 3-5, so my Single Turbolazers get the most work. I only equip one, so that leaves me with very little energy to replace.
Han crew is invaluable, enough to make equipping a Weapons Engineer a potentiality as well.
He increases your damage output between having just a TL and having both a TL and a Focus.
Moreover, these two things combine into why I take a Sensor Team: I'm shooting better dice than average from farther away than you can reach. Moreover, the threat of me running you over is either keeping you in this free-damage zone, or into the teeth of my full fleet.
I usually play with minimal upgrades. The Blockade Runner is just so expensive to field.
