By mrfroggies, in X-Wing

Rhino= Decimator.

Working on this now

Nice list!

General terms:

Hypermobile = Using PTL to perfom a boost and a Barrel Roll action. If possible performing them before you move by using AS as well

Builds:

Bloody Daggers = 2x Dagger Squadron B-wings + 2x Red Squadron X-wings

Blue Angels = 2x Blue Squadron B-wings + 2x Gold Squadron Y-wings (with Ion Cannon Turrets)

I think something with Local Games Store?

contributing to this thread, not because i can at the moment think of a new acronym or abbrieviation but im hoping a surge in popularity will make it noticed by the mods and they can pin it!

Good work guys!

Squad: Blue Thunder (Credit Ricky White I believe)
2x Blue Squadron Pilots + HLC
2x Rookie Pilots

Do something to explain Dash's donut. Been asked this a million times.

The Red Baron:

Soontir Fel with PTL, Royal Guard Title and 2 Modifications - and of course a red Tie Interceptor

Do something to explain Dash's donut. Been asked this a million times.

The donut hole is referring to the Range 1 blind spot if you're running a YT-2400 with HLC+Outrider Title. Since the ship can only use the Heavy Laser Cannon, it's limited to Range 2-3 only (even though it's 360* turret). So there's a "donut hole" at Range 1 where you can shoot at it, but it can not shoot back.

Most commonly used with Dash Rendar pilot (aka Super Dash build).

Biggs Walks the Dogs - Biggs, two B wings (usually Dagger Squadron) and a rookie pilot

Gordy, you forgot to mention the Daggers both have Advanced Sensors.

Hard to define but commonly asked: Rebel Control

I'll let froggies figure out an easy to sum up that whole genre of lists.

I'd say Rebel Control can be summed up as having both Stress and Ion inducing ships. The strategy is to stress and ion your opponent so you have control of the board. Although there could be many variations, the most common ones I've seen are:

Blue Squadron + B-wing/E2 + Tactician x3

Gold Squadron + Ion Cannon Turret + R3-A2

--------------------------------------------------------

Blue Squadron + B-wing/E2 + Tactician x2

Gold Squadron + Ion Cannon Turret + R3-A2

Gold Squadron + Ion Cannon Turret + R2

Yes, (Friendly) Local Game Store

ULGS = Unfriendly Local Game Store

This script may be useful for in greasemonkey / tempermonkey or whatever it is called in your favorite browser:

http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/95821-what-with-all-these-initials/?p=939570

it will make it that all abbreviations are underlined and have a hover with the full name. Have been using it for a while. Never updated it with new abbreviations, but thats easy to do. Only thing is that it breaks if somebody posts a url with one of those lettercombinations in it. Never bothered to fix that.

ULGS = Unfriendly Local Game Store

Alright then, here they go...

LGS = Local Game Store

FLGS = Friendly Local Game Store

ULGS = Unfriendly Local Game Store

I am somewhat surprised by the existence of the latter version....

A worthy goal sure to help newbies on the forums.

Some suggestions:

  1. Some of your descriptions go more than 1 line, so I strongly recommend using bullets to help clarify where one starts and the other ends.
  2. Arial font is terrible for discriminating between lowercase "L" and uppercase "i". EI" vs "El" (Arial), " EI " vs " El " (font type Georgia , as an example - several font types work). In general I would try and find a different font.
  3. OGP: Omicron Group Pilot, not Om n icron
  4. I would also add a section for shorthand for all the different TIE types, both technical designation and "slang". For example see below. Note the font not being Arial - Courier New is great for equal spacing here.

TIE Fighter: TIE/ln "eyeballs"

TIE Advanced: TIE/Ad "????"

TIE Interceptor: TIE/In "squints"

TIE Bomber: TIE/sa "dupes"

TIE Defender: TIE/D "trips"

You could do the same for the X-wings etc.

Great work. :)

I updated the section with your suggestions. Added bullets, was thinking about this one already. Good call on the Font update. I'm a terrible speller, so any corrections there is much appreciated.

Right now I have the Tie Fighter Slang listed in the General Section. Wondering if People want it to stay there or if I should put in a Imperial Ship Slang, a Rebel Ship Slang, and a Scum Ship Slang? Wasn't sure how to organize this. Open to suggestions.

AccC - Accuracy Corrector

Never seen that before. IIRC it is and has always been AC.

F: Focus

TL/F: Either target lock or focus but not both.

CSI - Cool Stuff Inc

CSI - Cool Stuff Inc

or Crime Scene Investigations :D

Which actually brings up a point. I don't know if it has been mentioned yet or not, but EU is Engine Upgrade or Expanded Universe, depending on context.

Courier New has the issue of being uncomfortable for the eyes.

I like using Georgia to differentiate my regular words from ships. It adds a nice bit of flare.

Also, I find that when doing official list write-ups, I like to have my upper-case letters be a full font-size higher. It helps with legibility, looks classy when not using Arial, and really adds a logic to the spacing that completely averts the wall-of-text issue.

SD = Stealth Device

SU = Shield Upgrade

HU = Hull Upgrade

D-P-S: a list most often containing a Defender (usually Vessery), a Phantom + FCS + WE, and a Shuttle (usually Doom).

Critboat: a single ship designed to deal the maximum number of critical hits to a target as possible

Action Economy: an abstract term used to describe both the number of actions available on a ship and said ship's ability to utilize as many of those actions as possible in a single turn (e.g. Soontir Fel + PtL).
