X-Wing Slang Glossary

What's "spam" when used to describe squad builds ?...hopefully that will avoid some of the snark coming my way. ;)

"A stupidly large amount of " whatever 'Spam' was modifying.

"Troll" The upcoming Talon Roll

"Troll" The upcoming Talon Roll

Nnnoo, "Troll" already means "The perpetrator of an infuriating jest"

So its pre-nerf Phantom?

More like the player who tries to tell you that 4 Y-Wings with Engine Upgrades and without turrets is a winning strategy.

But it is a winning strategy! If you convince your opponent to run the list.

Hobojesus is a subset of Troll, yes :P

...And "nerf". Is that slang for a fix/upgrade?

PWT: Primary Weapon Turret

Spam: Any singular squad list of one ship type. 5 B-wings, 4 Y-wings, 8 ties or Z-95's

Brobots: A pair of aggressors

Pancake: Any large based, PWT ship.

Donut hole: The range 1 no shot area around an HLC outridered YT-2400. It can only shoot at range 2-3 due to the HLC range

AT: Autothrusters

TLT: Twin Laser Turret

...And "nerf". Is that slang for a fix/upgrade?

Nerf is slang for a de-powering fix; the opposite of a Buff.

A once powerful axe in WoW getting a damage reduction caused people to nickname it after the Nerf corporation's foam toys (ironically before Nerf started making foam axes).

What are MOV and WAAC? I keep seeing these terms, but have no idea what they mean.

MoV = Margin of Victory (it has to do with how many points you lost during a game. Someone with more tournament experience should explain how it works to you. Or you can read the tournament rules. But the actual calculation escapes me at the moment.)

WAAC = win a all costs (someone who will win even if that means being unsportsmanlike. For example, trying to rush an opponent. Usually they do annoying, inconsiderate things that aren't explicitly against the tournament or game rules, but sometimes they do break little rules and hope not to get called out on it.)

Palpmobile - A ship, usually a shuttle, that has Palpatine as crew.

and i think as all TIEs have sort of a nickname, even if only eyeballs and squints are used frequently, i must admit that i was quite amused as someone on reddit came up with "Sith Minivan" for the Punisher :D

That's pretty good.

If I were forced to come up with a nickname for Punishers, though, I'd call them PunQs. The idea being that they are "quints" instead of "dupes" (bombers), but since you don't here "quint" as a prefix too often, it's sort of foreign. So you could add Pun to it to make Punquint. But that's a mouthful so you just shorten it to PunQs, which sounds like punks, so it's funny. Maybe.

Another name for a WAAC is TFG or That Fraking Guy.

Poe being known as "the man" for Rebels currently has lead to the moniker in my LGS as the Police.

I like Fat Lizard as an upgrade heavy Bossk/hounds tooth.

Could we add something for heaver?

PH: Paul Heaver; or PH: world champ?

GOAT = Paul Heaver

I keep hearing "Threaver"

Can you put the build for 'stresshog' in your list. I see it referenced in posts and don't know what it is.

Any Rebel Y wing but usually a Gold or Gray Squadron with the BTLA4 title, R3-A2 astromech, and a twin laser turret. At range 2-3 it attacks with both primary and secondary weapons but only in firing arc. Targeting triggers R3 twice which gives two stress to the defender and two stress to the stresshog. Other turrets can be used but the blaster turret would be useless once the stress piles up as it needs a focus token to work.
